Vista, California – 7 Arrested for DUI at Checkpoint

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Vista Station, conducted a Drunk Driving / License checkpoint at 200 Civic Center Drive, in the City of Vista.
The checkpoint took place between 8:00 PM and 2:00 AM on Saturday evening. Approximatley 1037 vehicles passed through the checkpoint with 637 of those drivers contacted.
The results included the following:
- 7 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- 8 Field Sobriety evaluations were conducted on drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.
- 41 vehicles were stored and cited due to violations including driving with a suspended license, unlicensed drivers, or as a result of arrest.
- 47 citations were issued for various violations including: Unlicensed (31), Suspended driver’s license (5), Possession of Marijuana in a vehicle (2).
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). We encourage drivers to report drunk driving by dialing 911.
