Felony Arrests Reported for August 02, 2010 – (photo available) – opens new photos window.
Kelli R. Clark, 41, of Corice Street in Akron, was charged with Domestic Violence with a previous conviction and Obstructing Official Business. Clark was involved in an argument with his live-in girlfriend. Clark threw his girlfriend down and punched her in the head and face. She had visible injuries when officers arrived. He has a prior conviction for domestic violence.

Jonathan B. Jones, 20, of Carey Avenue in Akron, was charged with Felonious Assault and Domestic Violence. Jonathan struck his brother in the face with a metal pipe during an argument. His brother sustained several facial fractures.

D’Jaun D. Walker, 24, of Frederick Avenue in Akron, was charged with Domestic Violence with a previous conviction. Walker punched his girlfriend in the head several times then choked her. She had selling and redness from the assault. He has a prior conviction for domestic violence.

Mercedes E. M. Cooley, 20, of Greenwood Avenue in Akron, was charged with Felony Theft, Forgery and Tampering with Evidence. Cooley stole a purse from a business in the 500 block of East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue. She then used the credit card to purchase cigarettes. After she was arrested she tried to flush the credit card down the toilet at the jail.

Qiuana S. Griffin, 26, of East Avenue in Akron, was charged with Felony Theft. Griffin was involved in stealing a purse with Mercedes Cooley from a business on East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue.

Jay J. Robinson, 22, of Laffer Avenue in Akron, was charged with Domestic Violence with a previous conviction and Domestic Violence Menacing. Robinson was involved in an argument with his girlfriend. He then threw her around, hit her in the face, and then threatened to kill her.

Kelly A. Martin, 40, of West Crosier Street in Akron, was charged with Burglary. Martin was confronted by the homeowner in her living room taking a video game system. Martin said that he was given permission to take the system by the homeowner’s husband which was not true.

Austin Roland Jr, 44, of Gaylord Drive in Akron, was charged with Domestic Violence and Burglary. Roland kicked open the front door to his daughter’s mother’s house on Dietz Avenue. Roland then bit the victim in the arm and fled on foot before officers arrived.

Jeanie L. Femia, 50, of Chalker Street in Akron, was charged with Breaking and Entering. Femia entered through a basement window of a vacant house on Chalker Street and removed unknown items in a black bag.

Felonious Assault/shooting:

Shortly before 11:00 Friday night, a 23-year-old male was shot at several times while standing outside of a pizza shop on Copley Road. The victim reported he was talking to another female customer about her order when he noticed a male approaching him with either a cell phone or a handgun in his hand. The victim then realized it was a gun and ran back into the pizza shop, when the suspect fired several shots toward the victim before fleeing. The victim was not injured.

Officers recovered several shell casings and noticed a bullet hole in the pizza shop’s front window.

The suspect is a black male, 25 – 30 years old, 6’, 200 – 220 lbs, black braided hair, and wearing a white t-shirt and dark shorts. Anyone with information is asked to contact our department.

Vehicular Pursuit:

Around 6:30 yesterday evening, officers from the Akron Police Department assisted Boston Heights Police with a chase of a stolen car. The stolen car, driven by Joshua M. Deprez, 35, of Portland, Maine, exited Route 8 southbound at Perkins Street with Boston Heights in pursuit. Deprez drove from Perkins Street to North Howard Street, where he struck a light pole at East North Street. Deprez ran from the car into a wooded area where he was finally apprehended by officers. Deprez was tased before he was brought into custody. During the pursuit speeds exceeded 100 mph and the suspect also rammed a Boston Heights Police cruiser head on.

Joshua M. Deprez was charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Official Business by the Akron Police Department, and he faces additional charges from the Boston Heights Police Department.

Aggravated Robbery:

Detectives are investigating a robbery of the Long John Silver located at 2520 Romig Road. Employees reported the suspect entered the restaurant around 7:30 p.m. Sunday night, walked behind the counter and fired a shot into the ceiling. The suspect then walked the manager to the back of the store and demanded money. The manager handed the suspect a bag with money, before the suspect fled out a rear Westside door.

The suspect is a black male, 30 – 36 years old, 5’07” – 5’08”, 160 – 180 lbs, and wearing a black long sleeve polo shirt, white t-shirt, jeans, and blue baseball cap. Anyone with information is asked to contact our department.
