Text: On 7/26/10, at 1040 hours, the Kake VPSO was notified of a black bear
attack. A 17 year old male, from Kake, was walking on the road by the

slapped him on his left side. He tried to defend himself and was
thrown into the ditch. When he woke up the bear was gone and he
walked to the clinic to be checked for injuries. No major injuries
were found. The VPSO is notifying members of the community to be on
the look out for the sow and cubs and use caution if they are seen. The
Alaska State Troopers would like to remind people to use caution in
areas where bears or other wildlife might be encountered due to the
seemingly unpredictable nature of wild animals.
