Type: Assault III X2 (DV)

Text: On 07-16-10, at approximately 1938 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of an assault at a residence off of Canterbury Road
near Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that Heinz Frey, age 60, of
Wasilla, assaulted two family members during an altercation. Frey was
arrested for DV Assault III and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility
without bail, pending arraignment.

Type:  Failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer II.

Text: On 07/17/10 at approximately 0315 hours, Alaska State Troopers
attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a blue 2000 Audi A-4, at the
intersection of Main Street and the Parks Hwy in Wasilla, for a traffic
violation. The vehicle failed to yield and finally came to a stop at the
intersection of the Parks Hwy and the Palmer Wasilla Hwy. the driver
Jason Renner age 33, of Anchorage, was arrested for Failure to stop at
the direction of a peace officer II and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial
Facility.  Bail was set $500.00.  The vehicle was impounded.

Type: DWLS
Text: On 7-16-10 at approximately 2056 hours Alaska State Troopers
stopped a blue 1997 Ford Escort for a moving violation near Mile 34 of
the Glenn Highway in Palmer.  The driver was identified as Sarah J.
Mittlestadt, age 50 of Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that Mittlestadt
was driving while her license was suspended for failure to provide proof
of insurance.  Mittlestadt was issued a criminal citation to appear in
court and released.  The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Location: Wasilla
Case number: 10-65205
Type: Misuse of Plates, Warrant Arrest
Text: On 7-17-10 at approximately 0211 hours, Alaska State Troopers
stopped a blue Chevy pick-up truck for a moving violation on Nelson
Avenue near Knik Street in Wasilla.  The driver was identified as Raquel
Weaver, age 19 of Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that Weaver had
license plates that did not belong on the vehicle.  A passenger in the
vehicle was identified as Sheena Davison, age 27 of Wasilla.
Investigation revealed that Davison had an outstanding warrant for her
arrest for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance.  Davison was
arrested on the warrant, transported and remanded to the Mat-Su
Pre-Trial Facility.  Weaver was issued a criminal citation to appear in
court for misuse of plates.  The vehicle was impounded.

Type: Misuse of Plates

Text: On 7-17-10 at 0140 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted
Gabrielle Anderson during a traffic stop for an equipment violation on
the Palmer Wasilla Highway in Wasilla. Anderson was driving a 1988
Toyota Camry.  Investigation revealed that the license plates displayed
on the vehicle belonged to another registered vehicle. Anderson received
a summons to appear in court at the scene for Misuse of Plates and was
released.

Type: DUI / Failure to stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer 2nd
Degree
Text: On 7/17/10 at approximately 0423 hours, AST attempted to stop a
1997 Ford Expedition for a traffic violation at the intersection of the
Glenn Highway and Evergreen Avenue in Palmer.  The Expedition refused to
stop and lead AST on a pursuit which ended on Fenton Avenue in Palmer.
The driver was contacted and identified as Ruth Hoyt, 34 of Palmer.
Investigation revealed that Hoyt was driving under the influence of
alcohol.  Hoyt was arrested for DUI and Failure to stop at the Direction
of a Peace Officer 2nd Degree.  Hoyt was transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial
where she was remanded on $1,500.00 bail.

Type: Warrant Arrest

Text: On 07/17/10 at approximately 0130 hours, Alaska State Troopers
were contacted by Cory Frantzich, age 27 of Wasilla. Frantzich was aware
of an outstanding warrant for his arrest and wanted to turn himself in.
Investigation revealed that Frantzich had an outstanding arrest warrant
for failure to appear on the original charge of Assault in the 4th
Degree. Frantzich was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pre-trial
Facility where he was remanded on $1,000.00 bail.

Type: Felony DUI, Felony Refusal, DWLR
Text: On 7-17-10 at approximately 0016 hours Alaska State Troopers
contacted Clifford L. Crabtree, age 44 from Wasilla, as the driver of a
silver Subaru Legacy during a traffic stop near Knik Goose Bay Road and
Alix Drive for a traffic violation.  Investigation revealed that
Crabtree was operating the vehicle under he influence of alcohol and
with a revoked driver’s license.  Crabtree was arrested for Felony DUI
and for DWLR and transported to the Mat-Su West Trooper Post where he
was requested to submit to a DataMaster breath test.  Crabtree refused
to take the test and was additionally charged with Felony Refusal.
Crabtree was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was
remanded into custody and held on $7,500.00 bail.  Crabtree’s vehicle
was impounded to MTR.

Type: Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest
Text: On 7/17/10 at approximately 0156 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to the Four Corners bar near Palmer for a disturbance.  During
the investigation Troopers arrested 47 YOA, Terrance H Ward, of Wasilla
for Disorderly Conduct.  Ward was charged with resisting arrest and
disorderly conduct.  Ward was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility
where he was remanded and held on $250 bail.

Type:  Warrant Arrest
Text:  On 07/16/2010 at approximately 1052 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted 45 year old, Eddie Lee Close, of Anchorage during the service
of a writ of assistance.  Investigation revealed Close had an
outstanding arrest warrant for failure to comply with conditions of
probation.  Close was arrested, transported, and remanded to Mat-Su
Pre-Trial where bail was set at $500 cash.

Location: Shaktoolik

Case number: 10-65002

Type: Search and Rescue

Text: On 7-16-10 at 1510 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a
report of a capsized fishing boat near Shaktoolik.  Two crewmen were
found clinging to a buoy and were rescued. The third crewman, Thomas
Sagoonick, 36 of Shaktoolik, has not been located.  Personal flotation
devices were not used.

Case number: 10-65315

Type: Assault IV Domestic Violence

Text: On 7/17/2010, at approximately 0700 hours, Nunapitchak Village
Public Safety Officers arrested Daniel Alexie (age 21 of Nunapitchak) on
the charge of Assault IV Domestic Violence. Daniel was taken into
custody and later transported to Bethel where he was remanded to YKCC.
Alcohol is reported to be a contributing factor in this incident.

Case number: 10-65321

Type: Assault in the 3rd degree and Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the
4th degree

Text: On 7/17/2010, at approximately 0730 hours, Nunapitchak Village
Public Safety Officers arrested Levi Alexie (age 23 of Nunapitchak) on
the charge of Assault in the 3rd degree and Misconduct Involving a
Weapon in the 4th degree. Alexie was taken into custody and later
transported to Bethel where he was remanded accordingly to YKCC. This
incident is still under investigation by the Alaska State Troopers.
Alcohol is reported to be a contributing factor in this incident.

Location:  Chena Pump & Rolland Rds.

Case number:  10-65209

Type:  On 7/17/10 at about 0340 hrs AST was dispatched to the vicinity
of Chena Pump Rd. and Helldiver St. to a citizen report of racing
vehicles.  At the Chena Pump / Tanana River Wayside a suspect vehicle
was located and was observed being operated in a suspicious manner,
further investigation revealed this sedan was weaving continuously in
it’s traffic lane as it drove back onto Chena Pump Rd.  A traffic stop
was made near Roland Rd. and contact made with the driver, identified as
Craig James Titus, age 24, from Minto.  Investigation resulted in Titus
being arrested for DUI.

Location: Yukon River near Stevens Village
Case number: 10-64732
Type: Search and Rescue

Text: On 7/15/10 at 1953 hours, AST Fairbanks received a report that a
SPOT messenger was sending out an emergency signal from coordinates just
upstream of Stevens Village on the Yukon River.  Investigation revealed
Daniel Scheibl and Dave Critchfield, both of Fairbanks were canoeing the
Yukon River when they became separated from their canoe.  Scheibl and
Critchefield were transported to Stevens Village on 7/15/10, and on
7/16/10 they were transported back to Fairbanks by state aircraft.

Location: Mi. 18 Dalton Hwy.

Type: MVC – Injury
Text: On 7/16/10 at approx. 2126 hrs., AST Fairbanks responded to a
motor vehicle collision at Mi. 18 of the Dalton Hwy.  Investigation
revealed Walter Snyder Jr. and Gene Frederick, both of Virginia, were
traveling southbound on the Dalton Hwy in muddy conditions when they
lost control of their motorcycles and hit the ditch.  Snyder and
Frederick were both transported to FMH and treated for non life
threatening injuries.

Type: Violating conditions of release

Text: On 7/16/2010 at approximately 1225 hours, troopers conducted a
traffic stop on a passenger car on the Old Steese Highway. After being
detained due to officer safety reasons, passenger Erica K. N. Kunaknana,
26, of Fairbanks fled while troopers were questioning others in the car.
Kunaknana was still handcuffed, but managed to persuade a passing
motorist into giving her a ride from the area. The driver reported
dropping her off near the intersection of Farmers Loop and Steese
Highway once he noticed she was handcuffed. Troopers, including K-9
Arco, searched the area without finding Kunaknana. A records check found
Kunaknana had failed to report to jail to serve time for a case out of
Barrow. Anyone with information regarding Kunaknana’s whereabouts is
asked to call the Fairbanks trooper post at 451-5100.

Text: On 7/17/10 at 1548 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a
report that a teenage male, age 17 of Fairbanks, stole a purse out of a
vehicle and ran into the woods.  Investigation revealed, approximately
$5-10 U.S. Dollars and a check book were stolen.  The teenage male was
arrested and taken to the Fairbanks Youth Facility.

Type: No Valid Operators License

Text: On 07/15/10, at approximately 1352 hours, Richard R. Hostetter Jr.
(age 57 of Ninilchik) was contacted by Alaska State Troopers near mile
95 of the Sterling Hwy for driving an unregistered vehicle.  Hostetter
was issued a summons to appear in the District Court at Kenai after
investigation revealed that he drove the vehicle from Ninilchik to
Soldotna without a valid license.

Type: DWLC
Text: On 7-16-10 at approximately 2303 hours, Girdwood AST initiated a

traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding 84mph in a posted 65mph zone near

mile 72 of the Seward Highway. Investigation revealed the driver of the
vehicle,

John H. Ryan, age 56, of Seward, was driving with a cancelled license.
Ryan’s

license was cancelled by DMV from 10-17-09 with on ending date. Ryan was

issued a misdemeanor citation for DWLC and released from the scene. Ryan

was also issued a citation for speeding. The vehicle was towed from the
scene.

Type: DUI, MIW 4th Degree
Text:  On 7/17/10, at approximately 0344 hours, a Trooper from Girdwood
contacted a red GMC pickup near mile 100 of the Seward Hwy. after it was
determined the driver was asleep behind the wheel while parked in the
southbound lane.  An investigation revealed that Nicholas Lime, age 25
of Anchorage, was operating the pickup while under the influence of
alcohol.  It was also determined that Lime had been in the possession of
two firearms in the interior of the pickup when he was DUI.  Lime was
arrested on the charged of DUI and Misconduct Involving Weapons 4th
Degree.  Lime was eventually released on his own recognizance.

Type: DUI, MIW 4th Degree
Text:  On 7/15/10, at approximately 1855 hours, a Trooper from Girdwood
stopped a maroon minivan near mile 82 of the Seward Hwy. in connection
with a REDDI report.  An investigation revealed the driver of the van,
57 year old Wasilla resident Kenneth Langlois, was found to be driving
under the influence of alcohol.  During the investigation it was also
revealed that Langlois was in possession of a loaded handgun in the
interior of his vehicle at the time.  Langlois was arrested and
transported to the Anchorage Jail where he was remanded on the charges
of DUI and Misconduct Involving Weapons 4th Degree.  His bail was set at
$ 2,000.

Type:  Driving under in the influence

Alaska Wildlife Troopers arrested 23 year old Kenneth D. Bouton of
Kasilof for driving under the influence.  Bouton was contacted after his
pickup became stuck in the ditch while attempting to get back onto the
Sterling Highway near Crooked Creek.

Text: On 07/16/10, Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted William Stagelman,
age 61 of Anchorage in Kenai. Investigation revealed that Stagelman had
failed to record 15 sockeye salmon on his personal use permit that he
had harvested in the Kenai personal use fishery. Stagelman was issued a
citation with bail set at $110.

Type: Illegal gear – Kenai River personal use fishery

Text: On 07/16/10, Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Theodore
Armstrong, age 18 of Kenai, at the Kenai River mouth. Investigation
revealed that Armstrong was fishing with an oversize dipnet in the Kenai
personal use dipnet fishery. Armstrong was issued a summons with an
arraignment date of 08-21-10 at the Kenai Court.

Mitchell B Lyman, 57 from Anchorage with 10 salmon.

Warren R Reeves, 30 from Anchorage with 35 salmon.

Location: Western Prince William Sound
Case number: 10-65441
Type: SAR-Boating
Text:  On 7-16-10, at 2210 hours, a boater reported on Ch. 16 that they
struck something, and were taking on water.  They reported their
location as Esther Passage, and also that no persons were injured.  The
P/V Sound Justice was anchored a short distance away and responded to
the scene.  Two good Samaritans assisted in “beaching” the vessel.
Assessment of the damage revealed an eight foot gash in the hull.
Plans were made for the boat and party involved.  On 7-17-10, the
party of four loaded on the Trooper boat and were transported to
Whittier.  Skipper, Patrick Hallett 32 YOA of Anchorage, is currently
making plans to salvage the vessel.
