Major Incidents Reported for March 22, 2010

Felonious Assault/shooting:

Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred around 5:00 early Saturday morning. The victim, Nathaniel Ruffin, Jr, 22, of Laurel Avenue in Akron, was found by responding officers laying in a front yard on Laurel Avenue. Ruffin reported that he was shot in the right thigh by two males driving a black or navy blue car. Ruffin was transported to Akron General Medical Center where his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Felony reports for the weekend events

Adam L Todhunter, 26, 996 Indian Trail, Akron, Ohio was charged with Aggravated Vehicular Assault, Driving under the Infulence, Driving on a Suspended License, Reckless Operation and Failure to Control. Adam ran through a OVI checkpoint on Portage Trail. He then struck a utility pole which broke in half and injuried the front seat passenger and Adam.

Bryan K Turbyfill, 47, 1355 Blackstone Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Receiving Stolen Property auto and Criminal Damaging. A witness observed Bryan at 2000 Brittain Rd revving the engine until it blew. Officers apprehended Bryan a few blocks away and found the vehicle had been reported stolen on 3-19-10.

Charles R Seeley, 24, 292 N Adams St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Burglary. Charles broke into 200 Ely Rd and stole a check and jewelry box.

Joeshawn H Davis, 20, 282 Alhambra Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Domestic Violence. Joeshawn has a prior conviction for domestic violence from 2009.

William G Rushing, 49, 719 Hazel St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Disrupting Public Service, Aggravated Menacing and Drug Paraphernalia. William threatened to kill the victim and burn the house down. William pulled the wires from the exterior phone jack box on the side of the house to interrupt the victim’s 911 call.

Uriah S Sines, 29, 1269 Beardsley St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Domestic Violence. Uriah has two prior convictions for domestic violence from 3-24-06 and 2007.

James E Sanders, 43, 581 Arden Pl., Akron, Ohio was charged with Willful Flee, Vandalism and Criminal Tools. James and William Trayanum were observed taking siding off a house at 778 Excelsior St. When officers tried to stop the vehicle James was driving, James refused to stop and a short car chase ensued. After the short car/foot chase the two were apprehended by officers.

William A Trayanum, 32, 446 Talbot Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Vandalism and Criminal Tools. William and James Sanders were observed taking siding off a house at 778 Excelsior St. When officers tried to stop the vehicle James was driving, James refused to stop and a short car chase ensued. After the short car/foot chase the two were apprehended by officers.

Jack Scott Barnes, 31, 1348 Newton St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Rape. Jack punched and choked the victim and then raped the victim.

Matthew T Benson, 37, 863 Belden Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Abuse Harmful Intoxicants. Matthew was observed inside a vehicle with a can of aerosol electronic cleaner. Matthew was inhaling the aerosol to get high. Matthew has two prior convictions for this same charge from 2-27-09 and 3-20-09.

Brianna B Fair, 22, 875 Woodrow Ct., Akron, Ohio was charged with Failure to Comply, Child Endangering, Drug Abuse Marijuana and Obstructing Official Business. Brianna was stopped on Arlington St for driving without lights on. Brianna gave officers a false name and other information and then drove off from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed. Brianna was apprehended at 746 Eugene St and was found to have her three children inside the vehicle unsecured. Drugs were also found inside the vehicle.

3 JKD Holdings, Occurred 1012 E Tallmadge Ave, bet 3/17-3/18 bet 6:00pm-9:30am Unk forced entry rear s/s door. MISSING: office safe w/unk amount of cash, 40 cal Pistol, 32″ flatscreen tv, misc paperwork SUSPS: Unk

6 Occurred 1394 Burkhardt Ave, on 3/18 bet 8:00-9:40 pm Unk forced entry rear first floor window. MISSING: laptop SUSPS: Unk

6 Safeguard Properties, Occurred 1048 Dietz Ave, bet 2/18-3/18 bet 12:00pm-9:37am Unk forced rear first floor door. MISSING: copper pipes SUSPS: Unk

7 U-Haul, Occurred 1570 Vernon Odom Blvd, bet 3/17-3/18 bet 7:00pm-7:00am Susp(s) drove stolen U-Haul truck through gates and broke into storage areas. MISSING: pending SUSPS: Unk(s)
