Arrest Made in the Homicide of Anthony Perkins
Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced today that an arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of Anthony Perkins, which occurred on December, 27, 2009 in the 2900 block of 4th Street, SE. On the afternoon of Friday, March 12, 2010, 20-year-old Antwan Holcomb was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder While Armed in connection with the death of Mr. Perkins.
The suspect was already being held at DC Jail for an unrelated offense. He was transported to the Homicide Branch pursuant to an arrest warrant.
On Sunday, December 27, 2009, at approximately 5:15 am, Seventh District officers responded to the vicinity of 4th and Oakwood Streets, SE to investigate reports of the sound of gunfire. In the 2900 block of 4th Street, SE, they located a male shooting victim seated inside of a car. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the scene, but could find no life signs.
The victim, who has been identified as 29-year-old Anthony J. Perkins of the 1800 block of T Street, S.E, later was officially pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia. The body was then transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
