Location: 21.5 mile Haines Highway

Case Number: 10-11951

Type: Motor Vehicle Accident

Text: On 2-11-10, at 1729, Juneau AST was advised of a single car roll
over at 21.5 mile of the Haines highway. Telephone interviews confirmed
the accident and that three persons had been in the car. Other than
minor aches all were OK. On 2-12-10, Juneau AST responded to Haines and
investigated the scene which showed that while traveling northbound the
vehicle had lost control on the ice, spun 180 degrees as it crossed the
oncoming lane of traffic and rolled down an approximate 35 foot
embankment before coming to rest on its side. A passing motorist
assisted the driver and her two children from the car. All three
passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Type: Burglary 1, Theft 2

Text: On 02/07/10 at about 1133 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in
Ketchikan received a report of Burglary at a residence on Strawberry
Road.  Investigation revealed that an unknown person(s) forcibly entered
the residence and stole a firearm, camera, and prescription pills.  The
estimated value of stolen property is $800.00.  Anyone with information
pertaining to this incident or any criminal activity is asked to contact
the Alaska State Troopers at 225-5118.

Type: Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree

Text: On 02/11/10 at about 0852 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in
Ketchikan received a report of a vandalism to a residence at mile 12 of
the North Tongass Highway.  Investigation revealed that an unknown
person(s) broke several windows to the residence.  The estimated value
of damaged property is $2000.00.  Anyone with information pertaining to
this incident or any criminal activity is asked to contact the Alaska
State Troopers at 225-5118.

Type: Unlawful Contact in the 1st Degreex 2, Warrant Arrest

Text: On 02/11/10 at about 1133 hours, the Alaska State Troopers
received a report that Vincent Morin, age 21, of Ketchikan violated his
condition of Probation set by the Ketchikan Courthouse when he contacted
a victim from a previous Domestic Violence case.  An arrest warrant was
issued for V. Morin on 02/11/10.  On 02/12/10 AST contacted V. Morin on
a traffic stop and arrested him for a $2500.00 District Court arrest
warrant for the original charge of Unlawful Contact.  V. Morin was
remanded to KCC with out incident. His bail is set at $2500.00.

Type: Assault 2 DV

Text: On 2-12-10 at 1545 hours AST in Palmer arrested Steven Avalos, age
42, of Wasilla for Assault 2 DV after receiving a report from a female
that she had been strangled earlier in the morning. Avalos was contacted
at a residence off Wesley Drive in Wasilla and subsequently taken into
custody with the assistance of AST K-9 Roelle after refusing to come out
of the residence when asked by Troopers. Avalos was transported and
remanded at MatSu Pretrial Facility and held without bail.

Type: Death Investigation

Text: On 2/12/10, approximately 1014 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of a death at a residence in Palmer.  Investigation
revealed Lois Briggs, age 58 of Palmer, died at her residence.  Next of
kin were on scene.  The SME responded to the scene and Briggs was
transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office. Investigation
continues.

Case number: 10-12228

Type: DWLR

Text: On 2/12/10 at 1705 hours, AST contacted a red GMC Sierra for
speeding 75 in a 65 near mile 117 of the Parks Hwy.  The driver was
identified as 24 year old Matthew Kubanyi of Fairbanks.  Investigation
revealed that Kubanyi's license was revoked.  Kubanyi was issued a
summons and released.

Case number: 10-11993
Type: Death Investigation
Text: On 2/11/2010 at approximately 2302 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report from the village of Kivalina's health aide, reporting
that Jeffrey Roland ADAMS, age 34, of Kivalina was found unconscious and
unresponsive inside his residence.  Further investigation revealed that
emergency responders arrived at ADAMS' home at approximately 2233 hours,
and rendered emergency care, however, were unable to resuscitate ADAMS,
who was subsequently pronounced dead on scene.  Next of kin were
present.  ADAMS' body was transported to the State Medical Examiner's
office for further investigation to determine the cause of death.  No
foul play is suspected.

Type: DUI, DWLR, Driving in Violation of Limitations Placed on Driver's
License, Minor Operating Motor Vehicle after Consuming Alcohol and Minor
Consuming Alcohol.  

Text:  On 2-12-10 at approximately 0041 hours,  AST contacted the
occupants of a 1995 Ford F150 near Rezanof Drive near Sitkinak Drive
after it was observed parking at school parking lot.  The driver was
identified as 20 year old Ronald A. Morataya-Garcia of Kodiak.
Investigation revealed Morataya-Garcia was DUI and was arrested.  He was
also charged with driving on a revoked license.  His vehicle did not
have a required ignition interlock device installed so Morataya-Garcia
was also charged with Driving in Violation of Limitations Placed on
Driver's License.  Morataya-Garcia was also issued AUCs for Minor
Operating a Motor Vehicle after Consuming Alcohol, and Minor Consuming
Alcohol.  He was remanded to the Kodiak City Jail.

Type: SAM, Failure to Register as a Sex Offender

Text: On 2/11/10 Alaska State Troopers received a report that a juvenile
female in Quinhagak had been sexually assaulted.  Subsequent
investigation led to the arrest of Moses Williams, age 74 of Quinhagak
for Sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree and failure to register
as a sex offender.

Type: DUI, Minor Operating Motor Vehicle After Consuming Alcohol, Minor
Consuming Alcohol

Text:  On 2-11-10 at approximately 0133 hours, AST stopped a 1992 Honda
Accord after it was observed speeding on Rezanof Drive.  The driver was
identified as 20 year old Juan C. Camacho of Kodiak.  Camacho was
investigated for DUI.  After failing field sobriety tests, Camacho was
arrested for DUI and taken to Kodiak City Jail.  Camacho was charged
with misdemeanor DUI.  Camacho was also issued AUCs for minor operating
a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol, minor consuming alcohol, and
speeding.  A passenger, 20 year old Oscar Vasquez, of Kodiak, was issued
an AUC for minor consuming alcohol.

Text: On 2/6/10 the Alaska State Troopers in Nome arrested Brianna
Campbell, 22 of Gambell, with a warrant for violating her conditions of
release.  Brianna was remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center in
Nome.

Text:   On 2/10/10, Unalakleet AST contacted Camillas Lockwood, age 22
of St. Michael at the Unalakleet airport.  Investigation revealed that
Lockwood had approximately one-quarter pound of marijuana in his
possession.  The marijuana was seized and Lockwood continued on his
travels.  Lockwood was subsequently charged with Misconduct Involving a
Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree.

Text: On 2/2/10, the Alaska State Troopers in Nome received a report of
an assault that took place at the School in Gambell.  Investigation
revealed that a juvenile struck a teacher during school hours.  The
juvenile was reprimanded and suspended from school.  Investigation
continues.

Type: Search and Rescue

Text: On 2-10-10 at 1702 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a
report of an overdue snowmobiler en route to Elim from Nome.  The Nome
Search and Rescue Team located Marvin Takak, 31 of Elim, at the Safety
Roadhouse a short time later.  Takak's snowmobile broke down
approximately three miles east of the roadhouse in the early morning
hours of 2-10-10.  Takak was transported to Nome in good condition.

Type:  Driving with license revoked.   

Text: On 2-11-10 at 1642 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a
traffic stop on a Tan GMC for an infraction at the intersection of
Washington Dr. and Geraghty Ave. AST contacted the driver, Samuel Victor
Myers, 38 yoa, of Fairbanks. AST investigation revealed that Myers's
license had been revoked due to a previous DUI conviction. Myers was
arrested and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Text: On 2-11-10 at 1500 hours Alaska State Troopers responded to a
report of a theft of gasoline.  Howard Luke, age 86, of Fairbanks,
reports that person(s) unknown took gasoline and red plastic gasoline
containers from his property on the Tanana River. The loss is estimated
at $125. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact
the Alaska State Troopers at 451-5100.

Text: On 2-12-10, at approximately 0027 hours, AST contacted Jonathon
Hendrickson-age 31 of Fairbanks, after observing the vehicle he was
operating-a 2001 Ford pickup, fail to signal for a lane change.
Hendrickson was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of
alcohol and misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree.
Hendrickson was also cited for the initial traffic offense.  Hendrickson
was transported to FCC for remand pending arraignment.

Type: MVC-D  Commercial Vehicle   

Text: On 2/11/10 at 1510 hrs. Alaska State Troopers responded to motor
vehicle crash at Badger Road near Sandusky Loop.  Patrick Mulcare was
driving a fuel truck on Badger Road when he was unable to stop for a UPS
van stopped for a bus with red lights flashing.  Daniel Swisher was
driving the UPS van. Mulcare's truck rear-ended into the UPS van causing
approximately $3000 damage to the UPS van, and approximately $50 damage
to the fuel truck.  Nobody was injured, all parties were wearing
seatbelts.

Text: On 2-11-10 at approximately 1500 hours, AST and Salcha EMS
responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision near Birch Lake.  AST
investigation determined Sergey S. Krutskikh 63, of Delta Junction was
northbound near mile 306 of the Richardson Highway when he lost control
of his 2002 Isuzu pulling a small trailer.   The vehicle left the
roadway and separated within the ditch.   Both Krutskikh and his
passenger were transported to FMH and treated for minor injuries.
Damage to the vehicle and trailer was minimal.

Text:  On 02-12-10 at approximately 1420 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of a single vehicle Motor Vehicle Collision on Farmers
Loop Road and Viewpointe Drive in Fairbanks. Investigation revealed
Heidi L. Sauer, 33 of Fairbanks lost control of her 2002 blue Chevrolet
Blazer and slid off the roadway, rolling the vehicle on to the roof. No
Injuries were reported. Sauer was wearing a seatbelt. Damage to the

Text: On 2-10-12, 1510 hours, Fairbanks State Troopers (Rural Unit)
conduct a traffic stop at mile 10 of the Elliott Hwy on a green 1993
Dodge Spirit for having a cracked tail light and for expired
registration.  Upon contact with Barry Moore , 44 yoa, of Minto who was
the driver he advised his driver license was revoked.  An APSIN checked
revealed Moore's Alaska driver license was revoked due to a felony DUI.
Moore was arrested and transported to FCC where he was remanded for one
count of driving with a revoked license.  Moore bail was set at $1000.00
dollars.  Moore was arrested without incident and alcohol was not a
factor.

Text: On January 31, 2010 at approximately 0317 hours Soldotna AST was
notified of an expected death in Anchor Point. Josephine Parkinson, age
63, of Anchor Point, passed away in her sleep as a result of renal
failure and cervical cancer. Comfort One paperwork was on file. Next of
kin was notified and the State Medical Examiner's Office was contacted.
The body was released to the family.

Type: DUI-Commercial Vehicle
Text: On 2/11/2010 at 2155 hrs, the AST Bureau of Highway Patrol,
Northern Region, stopped a gray 2007 Dodge flatbed pickup for erratic
driving.  Dustin Don Ketzler, age 30 of North Pole, was identified as
the driver.  Investigation revealed Ketzler was driving while impaired
by alcohol and that the truck was a commercial motor vehicle.  Ketzler
was arrested for DUI and cited for Alcohol Prohibitions regarding
commercial vehicles.  He was remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center.
He was held with no bail pending arraignment.

Text: On 2/11/2010 at 0212 hrs, the AST Bureau of Highway Patrol,
Northern Region, contacted Amanda Jelf, age 29 of Fairbanks, while
assisting in the service of a search warrant.  Jelf was found to have an
outstanding warrant for her arrest for the original charged of MICS 6th.
Jelf was arrested and remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center.  Bail
was set at $200.

Type: DUI, MCA and Warrant Arrest
Text: On 2/11/10 at approximately 1506 hours, Glennallen AST and the AST
Bureau of Highway Patrol, South Central Team contacted John E. Wright
Jr, age 35 of Sutton following a traffic stop for a moving violation.
Wright Jr was found to be operating a motor vehicle while impaired and
was subsequently arrested for DUI.  Contact was made with another
occupant of the vehicle who was identified as Erica E. Baier, age 19 of
Anchorage.  Baier was found to have an outstanding $50.00 Fairbanks AST
warrant for the original charge of MCA.  Investigation also determined
Baier was under the influence of alcohol.  Baier was arrested for the
warrant and issued a criminal citation for MCA.  Both Wright Jr and
Baier was transported and booked at Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.  Wright Jr
was held on a $500 bond.  Wright Jr was also issued a traffic citation
for speeding, failure to show proof of insurance and failure to wear
seatbelt.  Baier was given a citation for failure to wear seatbelt.

Text: On Sunday, February 07, 2010, at approximately 0049 hours, Alaska
State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, contacted
a blue 1991 Chevy pick-up near the entrance to the Tesoro Gas Station at
Mile 20 of the Kenai Spur Highway.  Operating the vehicle was a person
identified as Tyler Ming, age 18 of Nikiski.  Ming was found to be
impaired by alcohol, and was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.
Ming was transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility and remanded for
$1000.  Ming was additionally charged with Breath Test Refusal, Minor
Consuming Alcohol, and Minor Operating After Consuming Alcohol.  Ming's
vehicle was impounded from the scene.

Text: On Sunday, February 07, 2010, at approximately 1852 hours, Alaska
State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, contacted
a snowmachiner near the shoulder of the roadway at approximately mile 82
of the Sterling Highway.  Ensuing investigation found that Leslie
Larsen, age 38 of Sterling, was operating the vehicle while impaired by
alcohol.  Larsen was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and
transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility where she was held on $500
bail.  The snowmachine was released to a family member at the scene.

Text: On Friday, February 5, 2010 at approximately 2329 hours, Alaska
State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team contacted
a group of snowmachiners on Holt Lamplight Road in Nikiski.  Ensuing
investigation found that Jerimiah Hemphill, age 23 of Nikiski, was
operating a 1994 Arctic Cat EXT while under the influence and impaired
on alcohol.  Hemphill was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and
transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility, where his bail was set at
$500.  Hemphill's snowmachine was released from the scene to a relative.

Type: Warrant Arrest

Text: On Saturday, February 6, 2010, at approximately 1844 hours, Alaska
State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, conducted
a traffic stop on a red 1990 Chevy Cavalier near the intersection of
Thompson Place and Kenai Spur Highway.  Ensuing investigation found that
the driver of the Chevy, Jeremy Windsor, age 25 of Soldotna, had a
felony warrant for his arrest for Failing to Comply With Conditions of
Probation with an original charge of Theft by Receiving and Criminal
Mischief 3rd Degree.  The warrant had a bail amount of $5000.  Windsor
also had another warrant for Theft 2nd with a bail amount of $1000 and a
court approved 3rd party custodian.  Windsor was arrested on the
warrants and transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.  Windsor was
remanded on $6000 bail, and a court approved 3rd party custodian.
Windsor's vehicle was released from the scene to a passenger.

Text: On Friday, February 5, 2010 at approximately 1956 hours, Alaska
State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, contacted
the driver of a Blue, 1989 Dodge 4-Door, near the intersection of
Pollard Loop and the Sterling Highway.  Katrina Winn, age 46 of Kasilof,
was found to be operating the Dodge on a suspended driver's license.
Winn was issued a misdemeanor citation for Driving While License
Suspended and released from the scene.  Winn's vehicle was released from
the scene.

Text: On Sunday, February 07, 2010, at approximately 1540 hours, Alaska
State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, conducted
a traffic stop on a white 1996 GMC pick-up near mile 1.5 of the Kenai
Spur Highway, for an improper turn.  Ensuing investigation found that
Matthew Leach, age 19 of Kenai, was operating the vehicle without
insurance.  Leach was issued a misdemeanor citation at the scene for
Failing to Insure Vehicle and was directed to park his vehicle until
properly insured.

Text: On Monday, February 8, 2010 at approximately 2140 hours, Alaska
State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, responded
to a report of a black Arctic Cat snowmachine and a female in the middle
of the roadway on Gaswell near Jones Stub.  The snowmachine and rider
were initially believed to be involved in a motor vehicle collision, but
further investigation found that the rider of the snowmachine, Stephani
Batchelder, age 31 of Soldotna, was operating the snowmachine while
impaired on alcohol.  Batchelder was arrested for Driving Under the
Influence and transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility, where her bail
was set at $500.  Batchelder's snowmachine was impounded from the scene.
