The Marietta Police Department Investigative Services Division is currently investigating two armed robberies/ shooting which occurred in the early morning hours of February 7th 2010 on Franklin Road.
At approximately 12:40AM Fernando Lopez of Marietta was walking in front of the Flagstone Village Apartments at 849 Franklin Rd when he was approached by two Hispanic males, one armed with a gun and the other with a knife both wearing blue bandanas over their faces.
The two demanded money from Mr. Lopez who ran away and was shot multiple times.
Mr. Lopez was able to return to his apartment where he called 911 and was transported to Kennestone Hospital in good condition. Approximately twenty minutes after responding to the first shooting, Marietta Police received an emergency call of another armed robbery which a person was shot behind the El Cuate night club at 677 Franklin Road.
In that incident two Hispanic males, one armed with a gun another with a knife both wearing blue bandanas over their faces approached a group of three Hispanic males and demanded money. During the course of the robbery a round was fired by the suspect with the gun striking one of the victims, Manuel Gustamante of Cartersville.
Mr. Gustamante was transported to Grady Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
