Location: Chickaloon

Case number: 10-9046

Type: DUI / Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 1st / MVC-D

Text: On 02/01/10, at about 1758, AST responded to mile 81.7 of the
Glenn Highway for a reported single vehicle collision.  An investigation
revealed Bobby G. Burton, age 56, of Valdez, was southbound on the Glenn
Highway when he lost control of his vehicle and flipped into the middle
of the road.  Burton stated he was wearing his seatbelt and reported no
injuries. Burton’s passenger, a 4 year old was not wearing her seatbelt
and also reported no injuries.  Investigation revealed that Burton was
driving under the influence of alcohol.  Burton was arrested for DUI and
Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 1st.  Burton was transported to the
Mat-Su Pretrial Faciltiy and remanded into their custody.  Burton’s
vehicle was totaled in the collision.  Bail was set at $2,500.  Burton
was additionally cited for Failure to Properly Secure a Child in a Child
Safety Device and No Proof of Insurance.

Type: Natural Death
Text: On 2-2-10 at approximately 0520 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a call from Mat-Su Regional Homecare & Hospice reporting that
Walter P. Schumacher, age 73, of Palmer passed away in his home from
natural causes. Next of kin was present on scene and no foul play is
suspected. Comfort One paperwork was on file. The State Medical Examiner
was notified and released the body to the family.

Location:  Talkeetna

Case number:  10-8950

Type:  MVC-Damage, Negligent Driving

Text:  On 2-1-10 at approximately 1440 hours, Troopers responded to a
single vehicle rollover near mile 6 of the Talkeetna Spur.  The driver
had left the scene but was located at his residence.  The driver was
identified as Michael Vogus, age 55 of Talkeetna.  Investigation
revealed that Vogus was driving his 2005 Chevy Trailblazer northbound on
the Talkeetna Spur when he drove off the roadway and the vehicle rolled
over.  Vogus was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.  The vehicle
is a total loss.  Vogus was issued a citation for Negligent Driving.

Location:  Willow

Case number:  10-9142

Type:  DWLR

Text:  On 2-2-10 at approximately 0855 hours, Troopers located a Jeep
Cherokee parked in the road on Old Parks Highway in Willow.  The driver
was identified as Roberta Guidry, age 47 of Willow.  Investigation
revealed that Guidry was driving with a revoked AKDL.  Guidry was
arrested and was remanded into MSPT.

Location:  Montana Creek

Case number:  10-8667

Type:  Warrant Arrest

Text:  On 1-31-10 at approximately 1210 hours, Troopers located Luis
Rodriguez-Rivera as he walked down Montana Creek Road near the Parks
Highway.  Rodriguez-Rivera was wanted on a $250 warrant for failure to
appear in court on an NVOL charge.  Rodriguez was arrested and was
remanded into MSPT.

Type:  Assault Fourth Degree (DV)

Text:  On 2-1-10 at approximately 0109 hours, Troopers responded to a
disturbance on Tami-Dall Avenue in Talkeetna.  Investigation revealed
that Melanie Hoffman, age 30 of Talkeetna, had assaulted a family member
at the residence.  Hoffman was arrested and was remanded into MSPT,
where she was held without bail.

Location:  Willow

Case number:  10-9287

Type:  DWLR, Providing False Information

Text:  On 2-2-10 at approximately 1500 hours, Troopers stopped a Ford
truck for driving 38 MPH through a 20 MPH school zone.  The driver
provided a false name to Troopers, but was eventually identified as
Terry Pershing, age 27 of Willow.  Investigation revealed that Pershing
had a revoked AKDL.  Pershing was arrested and was remanded into MSPT,
where bail was set at $750.  Pershing was also cited for speeding, no
proof of insurance and open container of alcohol.

Type:  Assault 4 (Domestic Violence)
Text:  On 2/2/2010 at approximately 0240 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a disturbance on Waldal Road in Wasilla.  Investigation
revealed 28 year-old Adam J. Avakumoff had assaulted a family member.
Avakumoff had fled the scene prior to Troopers arriving.  On 2/2/2010 at
approximately 1115 hours Anchorage Police arrested Avakumoff in
Anchorage.  Troopers transported and remanded Avakumoff to Mat-Su
Pre-Trial for Assault in the 4th Degree involving domestic violence with
no bail.

Type: Burglary II/ Criminal Mischief III/ Theft III
Text: On 2-2-10, at about 1000 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Bethel
investigated the burglary of the Newtok Traditional Office in Newtok.
An estimated $1000.00 dollars in damage was done and an undisclosed
amount of cash was taken.  At this time the incident is under
investigation.

Type: Death Investigation

Text: On 2/2/2010 at 0645 hours, the Alaska State Troopers recevied a
report from the Kwethluk VPSO that Robert David, age 54 of Kwethluk, had
been found deceased outside of his residence. David’s next of kin has
been contacted and no foul play is currently suspected. The body has
been sent to the State Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.
Investigation is ongoing. Alcohol is involved.

Type: Assault in the Fourth Degree / Criminal Mischief in the Fourth
Degree

Text: On January 31, 2010 at 0225 hours, Troopers arrested Paul Andrew
Christensen II, age 49 of McKinley Village, for Assault IV and Criminal
Mischief IV, after receiving a report of a disturbance at a residence in
McKinley Village.  Christensen was arrested then transported and
remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center for Assault IV and
Criminal Mischief IV.  Investigation is complete.

Location: Delta Junction

Case number: 10-7912

Type: MVC vs. Moose

Text:  On 1/29/2010 at approximately 0748 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a motor vehicle accident vs. moose at Mile Post 286
Richardson Hwy.  Helen Dinger of Delta Jct. was traveling northbound on
the Richardson Hwy. when a moose entered the roadway.  Dinger did not
see the moose and was unable to avoid colliding with it. Both driver and
passenger were wearing seatbelts and did not report any injury at the
scene.  Estimated damage to Dinger’s 2004 Escalade is approximately
$1500.00.

Type: MVC-I, Hit and Run

Text: On 2/2/10 at 1410 hrs. Alaska State Troopers responded to motor
vehicle crash with injuries at Airport Way near Mitchell Expy overpass.
A 2005 Jeep SUV driven by Eric J.  Perez ( 21 yoa of Fairbanks) was
eastbound on Airport Way when a 1986 Chevy S10 PK  careened out of
control on Airport way and collided into Perez.  The male driver fled
the scene and abandoned his vehicle nearby. AST has suspect information.
Perez was not seriously injured, he was treated and released at the
scene.  His vehicle sustained approximately $3000 damage.  The Chevy S10
sustained approximately $1000 damage.   Several witnesses helped AST
with this investigation.  AST is looking for the suspect in this hit and
run collision.  If any other witnesses have information please call AST
at 451-5100.

Type: Motor Vehicle Insurance Requirement

Text: On 2/01/2010, at approximately 2041 hours, Alaska State Troopers
stopped a blue Ford Explorer for an equipment violation near mile 13
Kenai Spur. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Adam Link 33, of
Nikiski. Investigation revealed Link did not have motor vehicle
insurance. Link was issued a misdemeanor citation to appear in court for
failure to carry liability vehicle insurance. The vehicle was released
to an insured driver.

Type: Hit and Run

Text:  On 02-01-10 Kelsey Deiman 24yao of Anchorage reported that her
2009 Subaru was hit in the parking lot of the Inlet View Lodge on 01-29
10 around 9:00 pm.  The vehicle that hit Deiman left the scene without
reporting the accident. Estimated damage is $1,300.00 dollars. Troopers
are investigating.

Type: Driving without liability insurance
Text: On 02/01/2010 at about 1905hrs Alaska State Troopers in Soldotna
performed a traffic stop on a Chevy Tahoe for driving without its
headlights illuminated. Troopers contacted and identified the driver as
Amber Tautfest, age 26 of Soldotna. Tautfest admitted to operating the
vehicle without insurance. Tautfest was issued a misdemeanor citation
for failure to insure her vehicle.

Type: Illegal Storage of Commercial Dungeness Crab Pots
Text: On 01/31/2010, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Petersburg Post, issued a
summons to Ralph Allen Strickland, 42 yoa of Petersburg, in Petersburg
for Illegally Storing Commercial Dungeness Crab Pots. An investigation
by Troopers revealed Strickland stored five Commercial Dungeness Crab
Pots in the waters of Duncan Canal while the Commercial Dungess Crab
Season was closed. Arraignment is scheduled in the Petersburg District
Court for February 25, 2010 at 1000 hours.

Type: Guiding Without Valid License:

Text: On 12/7/09, In the Nome district court, Jerry Austin, 60 YOA of
St. Michael, pled guilty to the charges of guiding without a valid guide
license and Trespass.  J. Austin received $2150 in fines, had his guide
license suspended for 3 years, placed on probation until 12/7/2014 and
was ordered to complete an Alcohol Assessment by June 1st of 2010.
