Tempe Investigators Arrest Suspect for Luring A Minor for Sexual Exploitation
Tempe police detectives from the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) partnered with detectives from Phoenix PD in the arrest of Brian C. Becker yesterday at a residence in the area of Southern Avenue and Rural Road.
Becker engaged in overt sexual interaction over a period of several weeks with a subject that he had reason to believe was a 13-year-old female. Both Tempe and Phoenix Police consider this an active and ongoing investigation.
Tempe’s ICAC unit is housed in the Criminal Investigations Bureau, and is partially funded by a grant from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. Detectives assigned to the ICAC unit specialize in investigating crimes against children, and efforts are targeted at criminals trafficking in images depicting the sexual exploitation of minors, as well as those who personally engage in sexual exploitation, such as Brian Becker.
Becker has been charged with one count of aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation, which is a class two felony. He is self-employed, 34 years old, 6’7” tall, approximately 250 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. A photo is attached. We encourage anyone who has any information they think may be helpful to this investigation to contact Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311, or your local law enforcement agency.
