Roadway closures, restrictions, and openings for Arizona State Highways (3:00 pm update)

Friday, January 22, 2010 -

OPENINGS:

SR 260 West: Eastbound from Camp Verde

US 60 between Globe and Show Low

US 191 between Nutrioso and Alpine

SR 87 from SR 188 to Payson

*Restricted opening* SR 87 in both directions from north Payson to SR 260 West north of Pine and Strawberry restricted to chains and or 4×4.

*Restricted opening* SR 260 East in both directions from east of Payson at Star Valley to Heber restricted to chains and or 4X4.

CLOSED:

I-40 Eastbound from the US 93 South Junction east of Kingman

I-40 Westbound from Winslow

I-17 Northbound at Exit 298 or the Sedona turn off.

I-17 Southbound at Flagstaff

ADOT has informed us that they hope to have both I-17 and I-40 opened up as soon as possible, no later than tomorrow morning.

SR 89A: In-between Sedona and Flagstaff

SR 74: In-between I-17 and US 60

SR 87 Beeline Highway: closed Northbound at Bush Highway and southbound at SR 188.

It is unclear when the closure will be lifted at Bush Highway to SR 188. *Please advise viewers and listeners that off road areas along the Beeline Highway area also closed*

SR 260 closed between McNary and Eagar due to blowing and drifting snow

SR 273 at milepost 385 closed due to heavy snow going to the Sunrise Ski Resort.

DPS and ADOT are advising drivers to avoid driving to the north country until the highway are cleared.

RESTRICTIONS:

I-8:

Eastbound I-8 restricted to one lane at milepost 148 to upright at tractor-trailer which was blown over yesterday.

Status at 1:30 p.m. 01/22/10
OPENINGS:

S.R. 303 from Thomas to Northern opened up at 4:44 a.m.

I-17 northbound at New River opened overnight.

*Restricted opening* SR 87 in both directions from the SR 188 Junction to SR 260 West north of Pine and Strawberry restricted to chains and or 4×4.

SR77 Open in both directions in-between Globe and Winkleman-Kearny.

CLOSED:

I-40 Eastbound from the US 93 South Junction east of Kingman

I-40 Westbound from Winslow

I-17 Northbound at Exit 298 or the Sedona turn off.

SR 260 West: closed eastbound from Camp Verde

SR 260 East: closed in both directions from Payson to Heber

We hope to have both routes of 260 opened later this evening.

SR 87 Beeline Highway: closed Northbound at Bush Highway and southbound at SR 188.

SR 87 in-between Payson and Winslow is expected to be opened up later this evening. However it is unclear when the closure will be lifted at Bush Highway to SR 188. *Please advise viewers and listeners that off road areas along the Beeline Highway area also closed*

US 60: Closed in both directions from Globe to Show Low.

US 60 at milepost 276, just west of the Salt River Canyon, we’ve had numerous Semi-Trucks which have become stuck on the roadway.

US 60 closed in both directions due to rock slide at milepost 321. This particular closure is from Junction of SR 73 at Whiteriver or milepost 318, to Show Low.

SR 260 closed between McNary and Eagar due to blowing and drifting snow

SR 273 at milepost 385 closed due to heavy snow going to the Sunrise Ski Resort.

US 191 between Nutrioso and Alpine due to downed and sagging power lines. The highway will remain closed until the electric utility clears the line.

DPS and ADOT are advising drivers to avoid driving to the White Mountains until the highway are cleared.
