Type: Assault IV Involving Domestic Violence
Text: On January 11, 2010, at approximately 0819, Troopers received a
report of a possible assault that had taken place the night before
involving a juvenile female and an adult female. After investigation,
Lois Douglas, age 35, of Hydaburg, was arrested on charges of Assault IV
- DV. Douglas was lodged at the Craig Jail Facility pending arraignment.

Text: On 1-10-10 at approximately 1800 hours, AST received a report of a
domestic disturbance at a residence near mi 110 Richardson Hwy.
Troopers arrived on scene and determined that Edward “Doug” Leblanc, 39
yoa of Tazlina had assaulted a family member. Leblanc was arrested for
the assault and transported to the Glennallen Jail.

Type: Driving While License Suspended
Text: On 01/11/2010 approximately 0329 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted Ronald R. McNellis, age 52, of Wasilla at the intersection of
Parks Highway and Stanley Road, Wasilla while performing a traffic stop
on a vehicle for an equipment violation. McNellis was operating a Ford
F250 pick-up. Investigation revealed that McNellis was driving while
his license was suspended for failure to provide proof of insurance.
McNellis was issued a criminal citation for Driving While License
Suspended. McNellis was also issued a citation for proof of insurance
to be carried and exhibited upon demand. McNellis’s vehicle was
released at the scene to a licensed driver.

Type: Expected Death Investigation
Text: On 1-11-10 at approximately 0400 hours Alaska State Troopers
received a report of an expected death at Golden Pond Assisted Living
Home in Houston. Investigating revealed that Earl L. Reynolds, age 48
from Wasilla, had passed away during the early morning due to natural
causes. Comfort One paperwork was on file and Reynolds next of kin was
notified and responded to the scene. The State Medical Examiners office
was contacted and the body was released to Valley Funeral Home.

Text: On 01/10/2010, at approximately 2045 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to mile 2.5 Point Mackenzie Rd in Wasilla for a report of a
vehicle in the ditch. Investigation revealed that Laura L. Carlson, age
31, of Wasilla was operating a 2008 Chevy pickup while under the
influence of alcohol. Carlson was arrested for DUI and remanded to
Mat-Su Pretrial where she was held on $2,500 and CATP.

Text: On 01/11/2010, at approximately 1435 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of an unexpected home death at an address on Knox
Drive, near Wasilla. Investigation revealed that James R. Langendorf,
age 51, of Wasilla, passed away due to natural causes. Next of kin was
notified. The State Medical Examiner responded to the scene and took
custody of the body. No foul play is suspected and the investigation is
continuing.

Type: Felony DUI, Driving While License Revoked, Warrant Arrest
Text: On 1/10/2010 at approximately 1833 hours, a security officer with
the Kodiak Launch Facility reported that a vehicle had run off the road
near their facility. Investigation revealed Andrew Wilson, age 25 of
Kodiak, had driven off the road in his orange 1979 Ford F150. Further
investigation revealed Wilson was impaired by alcohol. Wilson’s license
was also revoked. There was also an outstanding arrest warrant for
Wilson for failure to appear for an original charge of Theft IV. Wilson
was arrested for Felony DUI, Driving While License Revoked, and the
outstanding warrant. Wilson was transported and remanded to Kodiak
Police Department Jail where no bail was set.

Type: Assault III, Criminal Mischief III, & Misconduct Involving a
Weapon IV
Text: On 1/10/2010, at approximately 1230 hours, the Alaska State
Troopers in Bethel received a call from the Village of Akiachak
reporting that an intoxicated John Noatak (age 33 of Akiachak) was
breaking the windows out of his parents residence, threatening to kill
his family, and that he had also fired a number of shots into the air
from a high powered rifle while standing near his family’s house. Alaska
State Troopers responded to the Village of Akiachak, where John Noatak
was taken into custody and later remanded to YKCC in Bethel on the
charges of Assault in the 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief in the 3rd
degree, and Misconduct Involving weapon in the 4th degree. Alcohol is
reported to be a factor in this reported incident.

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision
Text: On 1-8-10 at 1254 hours, Alaska State Troopers received the report
of a motor vehicle collision at mile post 318 of the Richardson Highway.
Investigation revealed the driver, James Thomas Whitfield (50 yoa of
Fort Greely) lost control of his vehicle and struck the guardrail.
Whitfield did not report injuries and the vehicle was towed from the
scene by Denali Towing. The vehicle was not equipped with studded tires.
The car sustained approximately $2000 damage, and the guard rail
sustained approximately $5000 damage.

Type: Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
Text: On 1-9-10 at 0637 hours, Alaska State Troopers received the report
of a possible impaired driver on the Steese Highway near Farmers Loop.
Investigation led to the arrest of Raelene C Honea, 31 of Fairbanks and
Dateen Duane Arkell, 26 of Fairbanks. Honea was charged with one count
of DUI, one count of Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, and she was
cited for Open Container. Arkell was charged with one count of DUI, one
count of Driving With A Revoked Operators License, and was cited for
Open Container. Both Honea and Arkell were remanded to Fairbanks
Correctional Center.

Text: On January 8, 2010 at 0909 hrs Alaska State Troopers responded to
North Cohoe Loop residence in Kasilof for a report of a deceased male.
Investigation showed that Fred Lewis Monroe, 87 of Kasilof, died of
natural causes in his home. There were no signs of foul play and next
of kin have been notified.

On 01/10/10 at approximately 1349 hours AST contacted Justin Keith
TENNISON, 32YOA of Anchor Point, during a traffic stop near mile 155 of
the Sterling Highway. Investigation revealed that TENNISON was operating
a vehicle on a public roadway in the state of Alaska while his
operator’s license was in a revoked status. TENNISON was issued a
summons and the vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Type: DWLS, Operate Vehicle Without Insurance
Text: On 1/9/10 at approximately 2122 hours, Alaska State Troopers
stopped a blue 1994 Buick Century for a moving violation near mile 3.0
of the Seward Highway. The driver was identified as Terry Long by his
AKID card. Long was asked to provide proof of insurance at which time
he replied the vehicle did not have insurance on it. A records check
revealed Long’s operators license was suspended effective 9/28/07
through 9/27/10 for Failure to Comply for Financial Responsibility,
suspended effective 1/20/10 through 1/19/13 for Failure to Pay Damage
Installment, revoked effective 9/28/10 through 12/26/10 for Driving
While License Suspended, and suspended effective 12/27/10 through
1/26/11 for Points System. Long was placed under arrest, transported to
the Seward City Jail, and remanded. Bail was set at $1000.00.

Type: Explosion
Text: On 1/10/10 at approximately 0100 hours Dane Koponen, age 20 of
Fairbanks, walked into the Chena Goldstream Fire Department with burn
injuries. He reported that there was an explosion at his residence,
which was in the area. Koponen was transported to the Fairbanks Memorial
Hospital, then to an out-of-state hospital, for treatment of his
injuries.
Troopers responded to Koponen’s home to search for other potential
victims. After finding no additional victims, Troopers began an
investigation into the cause of the explosion. AST requested assistance
from the FBI as the agency has greater haz-mat expertise. AST is the
lead agency for this case, investigation continues.

Text: On Saturday, January 9, 2010, at approximately 2348 hours, Alaska
State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, contacted
a silver Yamaha VMax snowmachine driving near the roadway on Holt
Lamplight Road. Ensuing investigation found that the operator of the
silver Yamaha, David Pine, age 30 of Nikiski, had a warrant for his
arrest. Pine was transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility and remanded
without bail. Pine’s Yamaha was retrieved by a friend and released from
the scene.

Text: On Friday, January 8, 2010, at approximately 1929 hours, Alaska
State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, conducted
a traffic stop on a gold 2001 Daewoo Nubia, for speeding near mile 120
of the Sterling Highway. Upon contacting the vehicle it was found to be
operated by Adrian Smith, age 45 of Homer. Ensuing investigation
resulted in Smith being arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled
Substance 4th degree, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 6th
degree, and for failing to have insurance on his vehicle. Smith was
transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility and remanded without bail.
Smith’s vehicle was impounded from the scene.

Text: On Sunday, January 10, 2010, at approximately 1815 hours, Alaska
State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, responded
to a report of a single vehicle collision with a moose near mile 17
K-Beach. Ensuing investigation found that a Maroon 1998 Plymouth 4 door
driven by Donaven Blakely, age 25 of Sterling, hit a moose causing
significant damage to the vehicle and injuring Blakely and his
passenger, Erika Jackson, age 19 of Sterling. Blakely and Jackson were
both transported from the scene by Central Emergency Services, and were
transported to Central Peninsula Hospital where they were treated for
their injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Outlaw Towing
and the Moose was removed by the State of Alaska Department of
Transportation, since it was badly destroyed and unsalvageable for
charity purposes. Blakely was also issued a misdemeanor citation for
Driving in Violation of an Instructional Permit, with court date set in
the future.

Text: On 1/11/10 at approximately 1940 hours, a member of the AST Bureau
of Highway Patrol South Central Team, conducted a traffic stop on a 2005
red Kia SUV near the intersection of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and
Golden Hills Drive. The vehicle had been reported as a REDDI (Report
Every Dangerous Driver Immediately). The driver was identified as Steven
P. Phillips, age 40 of Eagle River. Investigation determined Phillips
had operated his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was
arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial facility where bail was
set at $5000 with a CAPT (Court Approved Third Party)
