Yuba County detectives have arrested a second man in connection with a weekend robbery and shooting, Sheriff Steve Durfor said today.
48-year-old Gerald Richard Murphy Jr. was arrested just after 2 PM Wednesday at the home of an acquaintance in Olivehurst. Murphy surrendered without incident to investigators when they came to the home in the 4000 block of Mary Avenue.
Murphy’s accomplice, Johnny Trapp, was arrested Monday night for his role in the crime, which occurred shortly before 6 AM Sunday morning at Lally’s Market in the 1900 block of North Beale Road, Durfor said. During the robbery, the clerk was shot once, and an undisclosed amount of money was taken from the store. The clerk was treated and released for his injuries, which were not life-threatening.
Murphy was arrested on charges of attempted homicide, armed robbery, and assault with a firearm.
