Houston, Texas – Fatal Traffic Accident at 700 Eastex Freeway

January 04, 2009 – Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 700 block of the Eastex Freeway (US Highway 59 North) about 2:20 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 1).
The victim, Janine Joshua, 42, of Houston was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Spencer and Officer C. Lofland reported:
A gold Buick LeSabre had stopped in the southbound emergency lane of the Eastex Freeway where it had run out of gas. A white Honda Civic, traveling southbound in the emergency lane for unknown reasons, then struck the Buick from behind.
The driver and passenger of the Buick were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where the passenger, Ms. Joshua, was pronounced dead. The driver of the Honda passed all field sobriety tests at the scene.
No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is continuing.
