Text: On 11-28-2009, at 0411 hours, the Alaska State Troopers stopped a
vehicle on E. Dahlia Avenue and S. Valley Way, Palmer for a moving
violation. The driver of the vehicle, Carl M. Cornforth, age 30, of
Wasilla was found to be operating the vehicle while impaired and under
the influence of alcohol. Cornforth was arrested, transported and
remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and bail set at $500.00.

Type: DUI

Text: On 11-28-09 at approximately 0150 hours, Alaska State Troopers
stopped a vehicle near Seward Meridian & Bogard Rd. in Wasilla for
erratic driving. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Antonio
Zambrano-Delariva age 42 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Antonio was
operating the vehicle while impaired and under the influence of alcohol.
Antonio was arrested for DUI and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial where he
was held on $500.00 bail.

Type: MVC-D

Text: On 11-28-09 at approximately 0811 hours, AST responded to a MVC on
Truck Road near Jim Cottrell Circle, in Palmer. Investigation revealed
Amber Jackson, age 20 of Palmer, was traveling S/B on Trunk Road, in a
red 2005 Buick Rendezvous, when she lost control, ran off the road and
rolled her vehicle. Seat belt was used and no injuries were reported at
the scene. Jackson’s vehicle was estimated as totaled.

Text: On 11/27/09 at approximately 1850 hours, Alaska State Troopers
conducted a traffic stop at Lucille Rd. and Mulchatna St. in Wasilla on
a 1997 red Ford Ranger for a traffic violation. Investigation revealed
James J. Coveyou, age 55 of Wasilla was Driving While Under the
Influence of alcohol. Coveyou was subsequently arrested for DUI,
transported to and remanded in MSPT with his bail set at $500.00.

Type: MVC-I
Text: On 11/28/09 at approximately 1150 hours, Troopers responded to the
Glenn and Parks Highway interchange for a report of a two vehicle
collision. Investigation revealed that Neng Vue, age 47 of Chugiak, was
driving a 1998 Toyota Sienna northbound on the Glenn Highway when he
lost control on the icy roadway. Vue crossed into the oncoming traffic
lane and was struck by a southbound 2008 Dodge Ram driven by Peter
Bengston, age 25 of Glenallen. Vue, a passenger in Vue’s vehicle, and
three passengers in Bengston’s vehicle were injured and transported by
ambulance to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment. One occupant
in Bengston’s vehicle was cited for failing to wear their safety belt.
Total damage to both vehicles was estimated at approximately $10,000.00.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene and Vue was issued a citation
for basic speed.

Text: On 11/28/09 at approximately 1548 hours Alaska State Troopers
contacted Dennis J. Colen, age 34 of Wasilla, as the driver of a
1989 Red Chevy truck during a traffic stop near Parks Highway and Main
Street for an equipment violation. Investigation revealed that Colen
had been operating the vehicle with a suspended drivers license.
Further Colen had a warrant for his arrest for Failure to Appear for the
original charge of DWLS. Colen was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where
he was remanded into custody and held on $500.00 bail.

Text: On 11-23-09 at 1419 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Kotzebue
received a report of harassment. Investigation revealed that Isaac
Douglas, 72 yoa of Ambler, inappropriately touched an 18 year-old female
at the Ambler post office. Charges have been forwarded against Douglas
for one count of Harassment II.

Text: On 11/28/2009, at approximately 1100 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of an assault in Kiana which occurred on 11/27/2009,
at approximately 1545 hours. Investigation revealed one juvenile male
assaulted another juvenile male at a residence. Minor injuries were
reported. When the investigation is completed, criminal charges will be
forwarded to the Juvenile Probation Office for review.

Text: On November 23, 2009 at 8:30pm, VPSO Bright was notified that 65
year old Joseph Brown of Goodnews Bay was overdue. Goodnews Bay Search
& Rescue was launched and located Brown between the communities of
Platinum and Goodnews Bay. Though Brown’s snow machine broke down, he
was in good health. Both Brown and the Search & Rescue team returned to
Goodnews Bay safely.

Text: On 11/26/09, at approximately 1500 hours, the AST St. Mary’s
Post received a report of a child being run over by a vehicle.
Investigation revealed Arlene M. Paukan, age 32, of St. Mary’s, was
traveling behind her 4 year old daughter in a 2005 GMC pickup on the
side of the roadway in the village of St. Mary’s, when she inadvertently
ran over the child. The child was taken to the St. Mary’s Sub-Regional
Clinic where she succumb to her injuries. The SME was notified and
released the child’s remains to the family, who were notified and on
scene. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time. The
investigation is ongoing.

Text: On 11/28/09, at approximately 1230 hours, while in Nunam Iqua,
the AST St. Mary’s Troopers responded to investigate the report of a
domestic assault that occurred on 11/27/09. Investigation revealed Alan
A. Stewart, age 20, of Bethel, assaulted a family member causing injury.
Stewart was arrested and transported to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional
Center in Bethel and held for arraignment. The victim refused medical
treatment. Alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Text: On 11/26/09, at 2100 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Joseph
PERGRAM, 26, of Ft. Wainwright, on the Parks Highway due to his vehicle
being stuck in the meridian. Subsequent investigation revealed PERGRAM
was Driving Under the Influence. PERGRAM was arrested and transported
to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was remanded for DUI.

the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was remanded for Criminal
Mischief V.

Type: Fail to Stop at Direction of Peace Officer 1st degree, Reckless
Driving.

Text: On 11/28/09 at 0228 hrs, the Alaska State Troopers observed three
snowmachines traveling west on the foot path on Geist Rd. AST attempted
a traffic stop on snowmachines on Geist Road and Gradelle Ave. All three
snowmachines accelerated, taking off in different directions. AST
followed one of the snowmachines south down Ginko Rd. The snowmachine
attempted to turn west on Long Spur Rd. were it got stuck in a ditch in
front of a residence. The operator then ran southbound on foot leaving
the snowmachine running. AST impounded the snowmachine for further
investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Alaska

Text: On 10/28/2009 at 1216 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were
contacted regarding a report of a van that had been set on fire in the
area of Van Horn Road, Fairbanks. Investigation determined that someone
had attempted to stuff a rag in the vehicles gas tank and set it on
fire. The vehicle sustained minor damage. AST investigation continues.

Text: On 11/28/09, Alaska State Troopers responded to an address off
Berton Street for a report of burglary and theft. Investigation revealed
the suspect pried the back door off the frame of the cabin and stole a

Text: On 11/28/09, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen
snow machine. The complainant said his 1998 Polaris RMK 700 was taken
from an address on Beechcraft. The machine has light blue cowling, blue
skis with red hooks, 136″ 1 1/4″ track, duct tape on the windshield, red
skid plate and a loud SOP pipe and can. Anyone with information is asked

Type: MVC-D
Text: On 11/25/09, at 0800 hours, Crown Point Troopers responded to a
three vehicle collision on the Seward Highway at South Fork Drive. An
investigation showed that Brooke Scalzo, 33 of Seward, was stopped on
the Seward Highway waiting to turn onto South Fork Drive. Brenna
Cliver, 19 of Seward, was coming up behind Scalzo and could not stop in
time and struck Scalzo’s vehicle from behind. Cliver’s vehicle then
went into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck a vehicle driven by
Thomas Buchanan, 26 of Seward. All occupants of the vehicles were
wearing seat belts and reported no injuries. Cliver was cited for
failing to exercise due care to avoid a collision. Alcohol was not a
factor in the collision.

Text: On 11/27/09, at 0930 hours, Crown Point Troopers came upon a two
vehicle collision at mile 72 of the Seward Highway. An investigation
showed that Clement Gallagher, 66 of Homer, was traveling south bound on
the Seward Highway when he lost control of his vehicle due to the slush
on the road. Gallagher’s vehicle slid sideways and went into the
oncoming lane of traffic where it struck a vehicle being driven by Kevin
Miller, 32 of Seward, which was traveling north bound. All occupants of
the vehicles were wearing seat belts and reported no injuries.
Gallagher was cited for basic speed. Alcohol was not a factor in the
collision.

Text: On 11-27-09 at 2201 hours, Willard A. Larrow age 44 of Sterling,

Type: No Insurance/Fail to Yield to Emergency Vehicle
Text: On 11/13/09 at approximately 1416 hrs, Klawock AWT attempted to
stop a White Jeep Cherokee, driven by Tonia Christensen age 38 of Thorne
Bar for speeding 65 in a 50mph zone at Mile 8 Klawock/Control Hwy.
Christensen was pursued for four miles before coming to a stop at Mile 4
Klawock/Control Hwy. Investigation revealed that Christensen failed to
stop for an emergency vehicle and was operating on an Alaska public
roadway without liability insurance. Tonia Christensen was issued a
citation for Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicles, bail was set at
$260 and a summons for No Insurance with a court appearance on 12/16/09.

Text: On 11/07/09 at approximately 0522 hrs, Klawock AWT contacted John
Olsoe age 35 of Thorne Bay for operating a motor vehicle with one
headlight on a public roadway near Mile 8 Klawock/Control Junction Hwy.
Investigation revealed that Olsoe was operating a motor vehicle upon an
Alaska public roadway with an expired Washington Operator’s license.
Further investigation indicated that Olsoe was suspended out of
Washington for failure to pay child support. Olsoe was issued a summons
for DWLS and a court appearance on 12/16/09 at Craig Court House.

Text: On 11/13/09, Klawock AWT contacted John Olsoe age 35 of Thorne Bay
for operating a motor vehicle on a public roadway, without a valid
operator’s license, near Mile 8 Klawock/Control Junction Hwy.
Investigation revealed that Olsoe was operating a motor vehicle upon an
Alaska public roadway with operator’s license in Suspended status, for
failure to pay child support after he was advised on 11/07/09 not to
drive until properly licensed. Olsoe was issued a summons for DWLS and
a court appearance on 12/16/09 at Craig Court House.

Text: On 11/27/2009 at 2336 hrs, the AST Bureau of Highway Patrol,
Northern Region, stopped a blue 1994 Pontiac car for traffic
infractions. The driver was identified as Don Cody Spear, age 24 of
Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Spear’s driver’s license was
suspended. Spear was arrested and remanded at Fairbanks Correctional
Center. Bail was set at $1000.

Type: Single vehicle MVC.
Text: On 11-27-09 at 2214 hrs, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway Patrol
responded to a single vehicle crash on the Steese Highway near 4 Mile.
Investigation revealed the driver, identified as Wayne E. Vick of Fort
Wainwright, AK, lost control of his vehicle and hit the Jersey barrier.
The collision caused extensive damage to his vehicle and had to be towed
as a result. no injuries were reported and no citations were issued.

Type: Single vehicle MVC.
Text: On 11-26-09 at 1430 hrs, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway Patrol
responded to a single vehicle roll over on the Parks Highway near Nash
Rd. Investigation revealed the driver, identified as Dexter Reedy 21 of
Fairbanks, AK, swerved to avoid a collision with a K9. The collision
was unavoidable and subsequently Reedy rolled his vehicle as a result.
The K9 was diseased at the scene. Reedy reported no injuries and no
citations were issued.

Text: On 11-28-09 at approximately 0240 hours the Alaska State Troopers
Bureau of Highway Patrol, South Central Team stopped a 1991 Chevy Pickup
on Vine Road near Full Curl Road, in Wasilla for a moving violation.
The driver was identified as Shawn Surls (22 YOA of Wasilla), the
passenger was identified as Ashley Hubbs (18 YOA of Wasilla).
Investigation revealed that Surls was driving with a revoked license.
Investigation revealed that Hubbs had a warrant for her arrest. The
warrant was $250.00 for failure to appear, original charge of driving in
violation of instructional permit. Both Hubbs and Surls were arrested
and booked into the Mat Su Pre Trial Facility. Surls’ bail was set at
$250.00. The vehicle was released to a license driver on scene.

Patrol, South Central Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of
the Glenn Hwy. and Glacier view Dr. in Palmer for an equipment
violation. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Jesse M.
Dukowitz, age 26, of Soldotna. Dukowitz was found to have an
outstanding no bail arrest warrant for the original charge of DUI.
Dukowitz was arrested and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where
he was held without bail.

Bureau of Highway Patrol, South Central Team stopped a 2006 Ford
Expedition at Ellen St. at the Palmer Wasilla Highway, in Palmer, for
several moving violations. The driver was identified as John Bryant (27
YOA of Chugiak). Investigation revealed that Bryant was driving under
the influence of alcohol. Bryant was arrested for DUI and booked into
the Mat Su Pre Trial Facility where his bail was set at $500.00. The
vehicle was released to the registered owner on scene.
