BATAVIA – A trooper from the Patrol’s Batavia Post used his cruiser to stop a vehicle traveling eastbound State Route 32 in ClermontCounty with an incoherent driver last Thursday morning.
The trooper was completing paperwork along SR 32 when he noticed a vehicle traveling along the berm. As the vehicle approached at approximately 15 miles-per-hour, the trooper saw the driver slumped over the wheel and the passenger attempting to steer the vehicle. The passenger began to honk the horn and wave at the trooper as a way to get his attention. The vehicle was heading to a section of road that graded downhill for approximately a half-a-mile.
As the vehicle passed the cruiser the trooper pulled out and sped ahead of the vehicle, placing his cruiser in front of the vehicle and slowly stopping both his cruiser and the vehicle. Emergency personnel were called and transported the driver to a local hospital.
Dash cam video of this incident is available on the Patrol’s Web site at www.statepatrol.ohio.gov.
