Arrest Made in Homicide of Assault Victim
Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced today that an arrest has been made in the homicide of 85-year-old George McKoy who was assaulted inside a residence in the 3900 block of 35th Street NE on November 15, 2009. Mr. McKoy died of his injuries on Monday, November 23, 2009. On Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at approximately 2 pm, 52-year-old Kenneth Lee Ross of Northeast, DC was charged with Murder One While Armed pursuant to an arrest warrant for the blunt force trauma death of Mr. McKoy. Mr. Ross was transported to the Homicide Branch for processing.
On Sunday, November 15, 2009, at approximately 7:00 am, officers assigned to the Fifth District responded to the 3900 block of 35th Street, NE to check on the welfare of a resident. Upon their arrival, they located Mr. McKoy, of the 35th Street address suffering from injuries. Mr. McKoy was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, and subsequently succumbed to his injuries shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009.
