Promise of Sex Led To Northaven Murder Sheriff’s detectives say a liaison with a prostitute led to last week’s robbery and murder of a man in Northaven.
Jeremy Stevenson, 19, of Memphis and a 17-year-old girl were arrested by Sheriff’s detectives just before 5 p.m. last night.
About 7:30 p.m. on November 19, Kerry Collins, 48, of Memphis, was found shot to death in the front seat of his car in the 4900 block of Ruthie Cove.
Detectives say Stevenson orchestrated a scheme to lure Collins to the neighborhood to have sex with the teenager.
After Collins met the girl at an abandoned home in the neighborhood, Stevenson robbed Collins and shot him inside his Buick Skylark. Collins died at the scene.
Detectives have charged Jeremy Stevenson with First Degree Murder in Perpetration of a Felony, Especially Aggravated Robbery, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
The teenaged girl was taken to Memphis Juvenile Court and charged with prostitution. Sheriff’s detectives say her involvement in the scheme is still under investigation.
