The New York State Police in Princetown are tentatively identifying the victim of the Delanson fire that occurred on Saturday, November 21, 2009.

It is believed that the sole occupant of the residence, Daniel P. Bartlett, age 50, of 1132 Thousand Acres Road in the Town of Duanesburg is the victim found in a vehicle after an explosion and fire destroyed the garage and it’s contents.

This identification is tentative and is awaiting positive verification of DNA, which may still take a few weeks. Bartlett is unaccounted for and it is reasonable at this point to believe that he is the deceased who was found in a vehicle registered to him on his property.

The cause of death is still pending toxicology and tissue samples. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control.

The State Police investigation found no evidence of criminality.
