Major Incidents Reported for November 23, 2009

Robbery:

A 77-year-old female was a victim of a purse snatching Saturday morning. The victim reported she was leaving a store in the 900 block of Brown Street around 10:30 when the suspects approached her. The suspects grabbed the victim’s purse and fled. The victim chased the suspects on foot before flagging down officers on Morgan Avenue. The suspects were apprehended by officers and the victim’s purse recovered.

The suspects, Quamarius Rucker, 15, and Quintin Savage, 14, both of Princeton Street in Akron. They were charged with Robbery and Theft and placed in the Custody of the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.

Aggravated Robbery:

The Circle K, located at 997 Brown Street, was robbed Saturday night. The employees reported the suspect entered the store around 9:00 PM and approached the check out counter. The suspect then demanded money from the register, as he pulled up his shirt and showed the clerk a gun in his waistband. The clerk handed over an unreported amount of money before the suspect fled.

The suspect has been identified and a warrant for Aggravated Robbery has been signed. Detectives are asking for the publics’ help in locating Larry W. Braziel. Braziel is a black male, 56 years old, 5’7” and 148 lbs. Anyone with information on Braziel’s whereabouts is asked to contact our department. Braziel should be considered armed and dangerous.

Traffic Fatality:

Traffic Officers are investigating a traffic fatality that claimed the life of Jamie A. Thorrat, 41, of Jefferson Avenue in Akron. Around 10:30 last night, Thorrat was driving a 2003 Ford Focus northbound on Dorchester Avenue when he lost control, went over the curb and struck a tree. Thorrat was pronounced at the scene.

Speed and alcohol appear to be involved. The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy for today. The accident remains under investigation.

Felony reports for the weekend events

Darrell L Harris,AKA Durrell Harris, 20, 150 Roswell Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Felonious Assault. Darrell entered Far Less Food Market, 854 E Market St and shot the employee.

Reginald A. Valentine, 28, 444 Fernwood Dr., Akron, Ohio was charged with Domestic Violence, Disorderly Conduct and Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. Officers were called to 536 S Hawkins to check for an unknown problem. When they arrived they observed the victim with a swollen right eye. Reginald was intoxicated and took a fighting stance with officers.

Elliot C. Gales, 33, 1049 Johnson St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Burglary and Domestic Violence. Elliot has a prior conviction for domestic violence from 10-3-09.

Jason C. Samples, 27, 32 W Mapledale Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Weapons under Disability and Drug Paraphernalia. Jason was found to be in possession of a .357 revolver and marijuana.

Rashen D Brown, 26, 875 Palmetto Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Violating a Protection Order. Rashen has a prior conviction for violating a protection order from 9-18-09.

Joseph Muster, 21, 602 Talbot Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Felonious Assault, Kidnapping, Domestic Violence and Domestic Violence Menacing. Joseph assaulted the victim and threatened to kill the victim. Joseph blocked the door so the victim couldn’t leave.

Gregory Aaron, 24, 61 Ira Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Receiving Stolen Property Auto. Gregory was stopped at Gregory and Getz driving a stolen vehicle.

Demetrius Sanders, 29, 1108 Tarson Terr., Akron, Ohio was charged with Weapons under Disability, Aggravated Menacing and Child Endangering. Demetrius place a shot gun to one victim’s head and threaten to shoot both victims if they called the police. Two small children were on scene when this occurred.

Danny Shaw, 34, 480 Massillon Rd., Akron, Ohio was charged with Disrupting Public Service and Domestic Violence Menacing. Danny threatened the victim and then took the victim’s cell phone and broke it.
