DC Police Take Two More Homicide Suspects into Custody

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced today two additional arrests in homicide cases.

The first arrest, made at 10:45 am, was from the November 11, 2009 homicide of George Rawlings. The second arrest, made just an hour later, was an additional arrest in the July 2008 fatal shooting of Robert Mallory.

Members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 19-year-old DeAngelo Edwards pursuant to an arrest warrant in the homicide of George Rawlings.

Rawlings was fatally wounded when he was shot multiple times on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in the 1400 block of H Street, NE. On November 20, 2009, at approximately 10:45 am Mr. Edwards, of Landover, Maryland was apprehended in Northeast Washington without incident and has been charged with Murder One While Armed in connection with this case. A previous arrest in this case was made on November 13, 2009.

Additionally, homicide detectives have announced that a second suspect was taken into custody at 11:45 am Friday, November 20, 2009 in the death of 19-year-old Robert Mallory.

Mallory was shot multiple times on July 16, 2008, in the 1500 block of F Street, NE. Members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 28-year-old John Rufus YoungBey pursuant to an arrest warrant in New Carrolton, Maryland. YoungBey, of Northeast Washington, has been charged with Murder One While Armed in the shooting death of Robert Mallory. A previous arrest in this case was made on October 14, 2008.
