On November 11, 2009 at approximately 02:30 AM, Spokane Police Officers M. Russo and S. Wheeler were working a 2-man unit. They ran the WA license plate of a Subaru Legacy, which came back as a confirmed stolen vehicle.

Officers activated their lights and siren and the suspect failed to pull over. A vehicle pursuit was initiated and after a couple of minutes the vehicle pursuit ended when the suspect struck an Avista power pole. The suspect exited the stolen vehicle and fled on foot in an attempt to avoid capture. Officers gave chase and apprehended the suspect without incident.

Further investigation revealed the suspect had a large amount of shaved keys in his possession, which are used by car thieves to steal vehicles. The suspect was transported and booked into Spokane County Jail for Vehicle Theft and eluding. The suspect was identified as 40 year old Aaron J. Harding.
