Medford Oregon – Parents Cited in 4-Year Old Gunshot Victim Case

On 110709 at approximately 1500 hours, the Medford Police Department, Medford Fire Department and Mercy Flights Ambulance Service responded to the report of a 4-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the foot in the 2700 Blk. Merriman Road.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found the child’s step-father applying direct pressure to the wound. The child was treated by medics and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A detective was called out to assist the patrol division in this investigation.
The preliminary investigation revealed the child was able to access a loaded .40 caliber handgun that was near his parent’s bed, where he was taking a nap. The child suffered a gunshot wound to his ankle/foot area.
The investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding the child’s injury.
