TYPE: Suspicious Circumstances – MAYDAY unfounded
TEXT: On 11/9/2009 at 1630 hours, the Angoon VPSO received a report of a
single MAYDAY call from an unknown location. Attempts to make contact by
VHF with the vessel were unsuccessful. The USCG was notified of the call
and dispatched a helicopter from Sitka to the search the area in and
around Angoon. No contact was made. The USCG helicopter will continue a
search in the morning. The Angoon VPSO has not received any reports of
overdue or missing hunters/ boaters from the village.
Anyone that may have additional information pertaining to this case
should notify the Alaska State Troopers at (800) 478-0061 or the United
States Coast Guard.

Type: Warrant Arrest, DWLR
Text: On 11/09/2009, at approximately 2237 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted an individual during a traffic stop for a traffic violation
near Wasilla off of Schrock Road and McAdoo. The driver was identified
as Nicholas C. LaTocha, age 18, of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that
LaTocha had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to appear
on the original charge of MOCA. Further investigation revealed that
LaTocha was driving on a revoked license. LaTocha was arrested and
remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility on $200.00 c/c.

Location: Wasilla
Case number: 09-100998
Type: MVC-D, NVOL
Text: On 11/10/2009 at approximately 1348 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Knik
Goose-Bay Road and Horizon Drive, near Wasilla. Investigation revealed
that Ariel Skoog, age 18, of Wasilla, was operating a 1996 green Dodge
Ram southbound on Horizon Drive approaching Knik Goose-Bay. Skoog was
attempting to stop at the intersection when her vehicle rear-ended a
2009 black Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Hayli Weiland, age 21, of Wasilla.
Further investigation revealed that Skoog was driving without a valid
operator’s license. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,500.00.
No injuries were reported. All parties reported wearing their safety
belts. Skoog was issued a misdemeanor citation to appear in Palmer
Court for Driving without a Valid License.

Type: MVC-Damage
Text: On 11/10/2009 at approximately 1100 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of
Fairview Loop and Knik Goose Bay Road near Wasilla. Investigation
revealed that Amaryllis Rey, age 30, of Wasilla, was stopped in the
northbound lane of Fairview Loop at the Knik Goose Bay Road intersection
in her 2003 Ford Explorer. Tyler M. Dringenberg, age 18, of Wasilla, was
operating his 1995 Ford Truck north on Fairview Loop. Dringenberg was
unable to stop his vehicle on the icy road and collided into the rear of
Rey’s vehicle at the intersection. T. Dringenberg was issued a citation
for failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision. Both parties
were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision and no
injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $3,000.

Type: MVC-Injury
Text: On 11/10/2009 at approximately 1226 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a two vehicle collision near Fireweed Road and the Parks
Highway on ramp outside Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Stephanie
Hassler, age 27, of Wasilla, was operating a 2008 black Honda Odyssey,
eastbound on Fireweed Road. Hassler was attempting to turn left from
Fireweed Road onto the Parks Highway when her vehicle was rear ended by
a 1997 white Subaru Legacy driven by James Tucker, age 18, of Wasilla.
Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $6,000.00. Hassler was
transported to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center by EMS for treatment
of minor injuries. Both parties reported wearing their safety belts.
Tucker was issued a citation for Basic Speed.

Text: On 11/7/09 at 0221 hours, AST received a report of a reckless
driving complaint. Subsequent investigation revealed that Sara N.
Wilson, 21 YOA of Fairbanks and an occupant of the vehicle operated by
the complainant, was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for Failure
to Appear for Arraignment for driving while her license was canceled,
revoked, suspended or in violation of a limitation. Wilson was arrested
on the warrant and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on $250
bail.

Type: Motor Vehicle Accident
Text: On 11-6-09 at approximately 1721 hrs, Troopers received a report
of a motor vehicle accident located at mile 299 Richardson Highway.
Investigation revealed that Denise Sturgis of Delta Jct. was driving a
grey 2008 Chevy Suburban southbound on the Richardson Highway. A cow
moose entered the roadway and Sturgis collided with the moose.
Estimated damage to the vehicle is $1500.00. The moose could not be
located in the area.

Type: DUI
Text: On 11-7-09 at approximately 2241 hrs, Troopers conducted a traffic
stop on a grey 1996 Jeep for failure to stop for a stop sign on Nistler
Road and Clearwater Road. Troopers made contact with the driver Steven
Hartman, 32, of Delta Jct. Investigation revealed that Hartman was
under the influence of alcohol and subsequently arrested for DUI.
Hartman was remanded to the Delta Court house and later released on
bail.

Text: On 11-5-09 at approximately 1840 hrs, Troopers received a report
of a criminal trespass at a residence off the Alaska Highway.
Investigation revealed that a person committed the crime of criminal
trespass after entering the residence without permission. Charges are
being forwarded to the Delta Court House. Investigation continues.

Text: On 11/08/09 at approximately 0730 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a private residence in Tok following a report that Henry
Brinkman 84 yoa from Tok had passed away. Brinkman is believed to have
passed away from natural causes and no foul play is suspected. Next of
Kin was on scene. The State Medical Examiner’s Office was notified.

On 11/10/09 at 0620 hours Alaska State Troopers investigated a report of
a Burglary in the Gold Hill Rd. area. Investigation revealed an unknown
persons forced entry into a garage and removed several items. The amount
of stolen property is in excess of $2000.00 dollars. The case is under

Text: On 11-06-09 AST at approximately 2030 hrs AST contacted Glen
Morris, 48 of Nikiski at a residence in Nikiski. Investigation revealed
that Morris had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear for
remand, original charges of Assault IV and Criminal Mischief. Morris was
placed under arrest and remanded at WWPT without bail.

Text: On 11-07-09 at approximately 2229 hrs AST contacted David Santoyo,
21 of Nikiski at his residence at 45941 Miller Loop for arrest warrant

he was remanded for three counts Assault-III, two counts of Assault-IV
and one count of Criminal Mischief with $2500 bail.

Text: On 11-8-09, Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted 46 year old Keith
Kline, from Kenai, while he was fishing Deep Creek. Investigation
revealed Kline was fishing with bait at a time when sport fishing was
restricted to the use of one unbaited, single hook, artificial lure.
Kline was issued a summons for Illegal Use of Bait. Bail was set at
$110.00
