DC – Decedent Identified in Traffic Fatality at 16th and Emerson Streets, NW

Investigators assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit have identified 23-year-old Lino Montiel of the 1400 block of Tuckerman Street NW as the decedent in the fatal traffic crash that occurred at 16th and Emerson Streets, NW.
At approximately 11:15 pm on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, Mr. Montiel was operating a motor scooter that was traveling in the intersection of 16th and Emerson Streets, NW. The scooter mounted a curb and collided with a light pole causing Mr. Montiel to fall from the scooter. He sustained severe head trauma and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.
