KCSO Mine Rescue Team from Indian Wells recovers the body of a local woman who had fallen into the Tungstun Peak Mine.
Details: On 11/1/2009 at 1418 hours, deputies from the Ridgecrest Substation were dispatched to assist Kern County Fire on a report from witnesses of a 30 year old female that had fallen into a mine shaft at the Tungstun Peak Mine located one mile south of the intersection of Hwy 14 and Hwy 395. The victim was later identified as Linda Rose from the Ridgecrest area. Based on the location of Rose, KCSO Search & Rescue Volunteers from the Indian Wells Mine Rescue Team were dispatched. Upon their arrival, Indian Wells Mine Rescue Team worked in conjunction with Kern County Fire in reaching her. Rose was found to have fallen approximately 100 feet down a vertical mine shaft. When rescuers reached her, she was found deceased. Linda Rose’s body was secured and brought back to the surface using a technical rope recovering system.
