Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies took a total of thirteen drunk drivers off the roads over the Halloween weekend.

On Friday night, the first arrest occurred on CTH B in the town of Christiana when deputies responded to a vehicle vs. tree crash.  The 57-year-old female driver from Deerfield was transported to Meriter Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  This is her second OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) offense.

A third offense drunk driver, a 42-year-old man from Deforest, was arrested after he and his passenger were found passed out in their vehicle at a gas station on Holum St. in Deforest.

At approximately 2:30 am on Sunday, deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash on the 3700 block of Oak Park Road in the town of Deerfield.  The deputies discovered the vehicle in the middle of the road with airbags deployed, blood in the vehicle, and no one around.  The driver called a short time later to report her vehicle stolen, but later recanted her story and admitted to being the driver.  This was the first OWI offense for the 21-year-old female from Sun Prairie.

Another traffic stop on Sunday resulted in the arrest of John C. Clark of Deerfield.  In addition to being cited for Operating While Intoxicated, he was wanted on an active warrant from Rock County, and a K9 search of his vehicle found him to be in possession of THC.

Although this was a holiday weekend with numerous events going on in and around the Madison area, these numbers could reflect any weekend in Dane County.  Please help keep our roads safe and don’t drink and drive.  Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies will continue to work diligently to stop drunk drivers, not only on holidays, but everyday.
