DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint in Santee
William D. Gore, Sheriff, San Diego County, is announcing deputies will participate in the Drunk Driving; Over the Limit, Under Arrest – DUI Campaign in the City of Santee on Friday, October 30, 2009. This crackdown will focus primarily on alcohol-related crimes and drunk drivers.
All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. A DUI checkpoint is a proven, effective method for enforcement and education. Traffic volume and weather permitting, all vehicles may be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested. Our objective is to send a clear message to those who are considering driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol and/or drugs – Drunk Driving; Over the Limit, Under Arrest. The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 9-1-1 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
MEDIA NOTES: The checkpoint will be conducted in the City of Santee from 8:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. The media is invited to attend, please contact Sgt. Scott Hill (619-956-4033), for the exact location for interviews and media opportunities. The Sheriff’s Mobile Command Unit will be on hand to process arrests.
