Smyrna Man to Face Vehicular Homicide Charge as Well as Pending Vehicular Assault Counts for Sunday Night Crash
Smyrna resident Kevin Fleet will be facing a charge of vehicular homicide in addition to four counts of vehicular assault for causing a crash Sunday night on I-24 east at Old Hickory Boulevard near the Rutherford County line.
Fleet’s Ford F-150 slammed into the rear of a Chevrolet Tracker SUV occupied by five persons at 8:10 p.m. The impact caused the Tracker to run off the road and flip. Two of the rear seat passengers, an adult and a child, were ejected from the Tracker. The adult, Malindy Raymer, 45, of Arnold Drive in Smyrna, died this morning at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The four other persons in the Tracker were also transported to Vanderbilt. They are identified as:
* Terry Raymer (driver), age 24, of Arnold Drive in Smyrna;
* Ontiveros Maurico (front seat passenger), age 23, of Stroop Lane in Smyrna;
* Steven Raymer (rear seat passenger & Terry Raymer’s son), age 4, who was ejected;
* Brandy Raymer, 25 (rear seat passenger), also of Arnold Drive in Smyrna.
Fleet, 41, of Mandarin Court in Smyrna, received minor injuries. He smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated. A blood sample was obtained at a hospital for alcohol and drug analysis by the TBI Crime Laboratory.
Fleet’s bond is set at $75,000.
