Felony Arrests Reported for October 23, 2009
Bruce E. Belton-Thomas Jr, 20, of Hudson Avenue in Akron was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Obstructing Official Business, Resisting Arrest, Curfew, and Adult Curfew. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle that Belton-Thomas was the front passenger after it was observed traveling without headlights. The driver led officers on a high-speed chase until he crashed into a house in the 800 block of Russell Avenue. Belton-Thomas ran from the vehicle and was apprehended a short time later. He resisted with the officers before they took him into custody. The vehicle was stolen prior to the traffic stop and had not been reported.
Michael T. Scherer, 32, of West Waterloo Road was charged with Failure to Register. Scherer has been living at an address that has not been reported. He is required to register from a sexual conviction involving a minor.
Dominic D. Williams, 23, of Lafollette Street was charge with Possession of Crack/Cocaine, Tampering with Evidence, Obstructing Official Business and Resisting Arrest. Williams ran from the officers at West South Street and Allyn Street. He was apprehended after a brief foot chase. He had drugs and paraphernalia in his possession.
Allison M. Moore, 30, of 5th Street SW was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Methamphetamines, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Drug Instruments. Moore was stopped for running a stop sign at 25th Street SW and West Waterloo Road. Officers found drugs and paraphernalia inside of the car. She also had a warrant for theft.
Tyrone A. Lowe, 19, of Seward Avenue in Akron was charged with Drug Abuse Crack/Cocaine, Trafficking, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Lowe was stopped at Courtland Drive and Seward Avenue for an investigative stop. He had a loaded 9mm handgun in his possession along with 8 small baggies of Crack/Cocaine.
Brian E. Cooper, 26, with no known address was charged with Willful Flee, Resisting Arrest and Possession of Marijuana. Cooper was stopped for investigative reasons in the 700 block of Polk Avenue. He failed to heed to lights and sirens, put the car in reverse and backed away from the officers in a reckless manner. He finally stooped and refused to roll the window down, or get out of the car. Officers found a trace amount of marijuana in his possession.

Major Incidents Reported for October 23, 2009
Robbery:
A 25-year-old male was assaulted and robbed of his cell phone and bicycle at East Exchange Street and Allyn Street around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. The victim reported that the suspect approached him and asked to use his cell phone. While the victim was getting his cell phone out of his backpack, the suspect punched the victim in the head. The suspect then took the victim’s property and fled.
The suspect is a black male, 25 years old, 6’01”, 250 lbs. He was wearing all grey clothing. Anyone with information is asked to contact our department.
Robbery:
A 54-year-old male reported that he was riding his bicycle around 8:00 last night near the intersection of Noble Avenue and Stoner Street when four male suspects approached him. The suspects pushed the victim off his bicycle and stole it. The victim sustained minor injuries however refused medical attention.
The victim was unable to give any description of the suspect other than four black males.
Felonious Assault/shooting:
Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 200 block of West Long Stree shortly after midnight last night. The victim, a 49-year-old male, reported the suspect was wearing all black clothing and a mask. The suspect fired several shots, striking the victim in the abdomen. The victim was transported to Akron General Medical Center where his injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
The only suspect description is a male. Anyone with information is asked to contact our department.
