Delaware – NcCo DUI Task Force Arrests 13 at Weekend DUI Checkpoint

Dover – The New Castle County DUI Task Force arrested 13 individuals for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and/or drugs at their sobriety checkpoint on Friday October 16th in Newark. The enforcement wrapped up month four of the 2009 Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign. Dover Police had a sobriety checkpoint scheduled for last weekend but had to cancel due to heavy rain.
This brings the total number of DUI arrests for the campaign since its July 2nd launch to 278. In addition to Friday night’s 13 DUI arrests, officers cited 11 minors for underage drinking violations, apprehended 6 wanted individuals, made 5 drug arrests, 5 felony arrests, seized one weapon, issued 5 seat belt citations, 1 child restraint citation, and 45 citations for various other traffic violations.
Checkpoint Strikeforce is a regional sobriety checkpoint campaign aimed at arresting DUI offenders and deterring others from drinking and driving.
