Louisiana – Winnfield Resident Killed In Crash

Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed one person and injured two others.
Troopers responded to the crash around 6:20 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 471 south of LA Hwy 34 in Winn Parish. The crash involved a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass, driven by Lakisha D. McMillian (B/F 31 yrs) of Winnfield, LA. The Oldsmobile was south bound on LA Hwy 471 when McMillian lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the right side, the vehicle reentered the roadway and exited the left side before colliding with two trees.
McMillian was not wearing her seatbelt and received moderate injuries. She was transported to Winn Medical Center for treatment. Tiffani McKinney (23 yrs) and Ashley M. Evans (18 yrs), both of Winnfield, LA, were passengers in McMillian’s vehicle at the time of the crash. Evans was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. She received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center for treatment. McKinney was not wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead.
McMillian was charged with Careless Operation.
The crash remains under investigation. Routine toxicology tests are pending.
Troop E Troopers have investigated 56 fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in 65 fatalities. Thirty-five of the 46 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Five crashes have involved a motorcycle, three have involved a pedestrian, and two have involved an off road vehicle.
