Richford, New York – Driver In Serious Condition After One Car Motor Vehicle Accident

(Richford, NY – October 7, 2009) On October 6, 2009, Troopers out of SP Owego responded to the scene of a serious personal injury accident on West Creek Road in the Town of Richford.
Investigation revealed that the driver, Matthew G. Hoffmier, 21, of Berkshire, NY lost control of his pickup truck, striking a vehicle parked in a driveway and then becoming airborne, shearing a NYSEG pole in half and striking several trees.
Mr. Hoffmier was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
He was airlifted by Guthrie Air and transported to Wilson Hospital in serious condition.
Power was knocked out in the area for several hours and damage was done to a residence when the power lines were pulled from the building. The investigation is continuing.
