North Platte, Nebraska – State Patrol to Hold 24 Hour Vehicle Checkpoint, Scheduled for October 14th, 2009

North Platte, NE)- In an effort to reduce traffic crashes by encouraging the safe upkeep and operation of motor vehicles, the Nebraska State Patrol Troop D Headquarters-North Platte in conjunction with The Nebraska Department of Roads is planning a 24 hour vehicle checkpoint.
The vehicle checkpoint is planned for Lincoln County, beginning in the morning hours on October 14 and continuing through the morning hours of October 15, 2009. During the checkpoint troopers will inspect such items as driver’s licenses, vehicle registration papers, proof of insurance, lights, both high and low beam, turn signals, brakes, horn and windshield wipers. The condition of the driver will also be assessed during the check.
Overtime hours for troopers and dispatchers participating in the special enforcement, will be paid for thanks in part to a $13,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS).
