BATON ROUGE – A Huntsville woman and her son were killed on Interstate 10 in Iberville Parish today just before noon when their Ford Mustang crossed the median and struck a Cadillac STS head-on. Bernadette Bailey (B/F, age 45) of Huntsville, AL was driving the 2004 Mustang east on I-10, west of Grosse Tete, when she ran off the road to the left, crossed the median, began to rotate clockwise, and entered the westbound lanes. The Mustang then struck a 2009 Cadillac STS, which was traveling west, with its passenger side. Bailey and her son, Keith West (B/M, age 27) of Huntsville, AL were both killed in the crash. West was riding in the front passenger seat when the crash occurred.
The driver of the Cadillac, Cicero Sneed Jr (B/M, age 58) of Houston, TX, and his passenger, Shirley Sneed (B/F, age 60), both sustained non life-threatening injuries and were transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital by Acadian Ambulance. Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash. However, Troopers have submitted blood samples from both drivers to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.
