Patrol Announces A Sobriety Check Point In St. Francois County

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, St. Louis, announces that a sobriety checkpoint will be held in St. Francois County sometime in the month of September 2009. The Missouri State Highway Patrol in cooperation with other area law enforcement agencies will conduct the checkpoint.

Sobriety checkpoints are a part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways, and are conducted at various locations which have been found to experience a higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts.

Captain Johnson says, “Driving while intoxicated checkpoints are a great tool in removing the intoxicated driver from Missouri highways. If you suspect a motorist of driving while intoxicated, call the Missouri State Highway Patrol on the toll-free emergency number 1-800-525-5555 or cellular *55.”
