Salem Police Detectives are investigating the death of a male that was found in the Mill Creek in southeast Salem Thursday night.

At approximately 10:09 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2009, Salem Police responded to a report that a citizen had found what appeared to be a body in the Mill Creek close to Airport Rd between Mission St SE and State St.  When officers arrived they located what appears to be a male adult deceased in the creek.

Detectives responded, but due to the darkness and inherent dangers of working around moving water in the dark, the scene was secured and will be processed this morning.  The manner of death and the identity of the victim are unknown at this time and will be released when available.
