Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that sometime during the month of August, Troop I officers will conduct a sobriety checkpoint, a driving while intoxicated saturation, and a hazardous moving operation. The sobriety checkpoint will be in Phelps County, while both the DWI saturation and the hazardous moving vehicle operation will be conducted in Pulaski County.
The checkpoint is designed to check every driver to ensure they are sober. The driving while intoxicated saturation is a mobile operation in which troopers saturate a specific area in an effort to arrest alcohol or drug-impaired drivers. The hazardous moving vehicle operation targets those individuals who are operating their vehicle in a hazardous manner, and thus, more likely to be involved in an accident.
Captain Kenley would like to remind all drivers to be patient on our busy highways and to always put safety first. If you need to report an emergency or a violation of law, please call the Patrol’s emergency hotline at 1-800-525-5555 or cellular *55.
