Atlanta, Georgia – APD and the DUI Task Force Receive National Honors

The Atlanta Police Department and DUI Task Force have been selected to receive national honors in the National Law Enforcement Challenge sponsored by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). The APD application was among 530 applications judged by traffic safety and law enforcement professionals in Alexandria, Virginia and was selected as the 2nd Place winner behind only the Los Angeles and San Francisco Police Departments (1st Place tie). The IACP National Law Enforcement Challenge recognizes and rewards the best overall traffic safely programs in the United States and includes efforts to enforce laws and educate the public about occupant protection, impaired driving, and speeding. The formal award presentation will take place at the IACP Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado in October.
This marks the second year that APD’s DUI Task Force has garnered a national award and the sixth consecutive year it received state awards . Congratulations to the dedicated members of the DUI Task Force!
