DUI Arrests for Week 3 of Campaign
Four checkpoints scheduled for coming weekend
Dover – Delaware law enforcement officer arrested 22 individuals for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and/or drugs during week three of the Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign (July 17 & 18. Agencies conducting checkpoints included the New Castle County DUI Task Force (Wilmington), Laurel Police (N. Central Ave.) and the Clayton Police (Rt. 300). Additionally the Seaford Police Department conducted DUI saturation patrols.
In addition to the checkpoint DUI arrests, officers issued 1 citation for underage drinking, apprehended 7 wanted individuals, made 7 drug arrests, 6 felony arrests, issued 12 seat belt citations, 3 child restraint citations, and 57 citations for various other traffic violations.
Four sobriety checkpoints are scheduled to occur on July 24th and 25th. The checkpoints are scheduled for:
Friday July 24th – Newark (NcCo DUI Task Force)
Laurel (DSP Troop 5)
Saturday July 25th – Rehoboth (Rehoboth Beach PD)
Newport (DSP Troop 6)
Checkpoint Strikeforce is a regional sobriety checkpoint campaign aimed at arresting DUI offenders, and using high visibility enforcement to deter those who would otherwise choose to drink and drive. The campaign, a six month long effort running through New Year’s Eve, involves setting up weekly DUI checkpoints statewide.
