DUI Checkpoints & Crime on the Road, Sobriety Checkpoints

On Friday, July 17, 2009, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Long Beach police officers arrested a suspect in the 100 block of Quincy Avenue after he was observed to be prowling near a residence.

Officers were in the area when they observed the suspect lurking around the private property of a residence and peering into a window.  When the suspect observed the officers, he fled on foot.  Officers gave chase, catching the suspect and placing him under arrest.

Due to the ongoing investigation, the suspect is only being identified as a male 56-year-old Long Beach resident.  He was booked for prowling, peeping, and possession of a controlled substance and is being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $80,000 bail.  It is believed that he may be responsible for several other similar reported incidents in the area over the past several months.  Due to the suspect’s physical description and method of operation, detectives do not believe he is responsible for a sexual assault that occurred on June 15, 2009, in the area of 2nd Street and Livingston Drive.
