Text:  On 7-12-09 at 0930 hours, AST received a report of a death on the
cruise ship Rhapsody of the Seas.  AST responded to the ship after it
tied up in Juneau to conduct an investigation.  Donovan W. Jones, age
80, from Mill Creek, WA was found deceased in his cabin on 7-11-09 about
2330 hours.  Jones was traveling with family and no foul play is
suspected. The body has been released to the family.

Type: Warrant Arrest
Text:  On 7/11/2009 at 1147 hours, the Alaska State Troopers arrested
Genevieve Bertha Colegrove, age 51 of Klawock, on an outstanding $100.00
warrant for Violation of Custodians Duty when a welfare check was being
conducted on a disabled vehicle at MP 4.25 of the Craig Klawock Hwy that
she was a passenger in. Colegrove was transported and remanded to the
Craig Community Jail.

Text:  On 7/12/2005 at 0215 hours, the Alaska State Troopers arrested
Walter Glenn Young, 32 of Kasaan for DV Assault IV after he placed a
family member in fear of being injured and for Violating Conditions of
Release in a current criminal case 1CR-09-91CR, when he was found to be
intoxicated and in violation of his conditions of release not to consume
alcohol. Young was transported and remanded to the Craig Community Jail.

Text:  On 7/12/2009 at 0215 hours, the Alaska State Troopers arrested

Type: DUI

Text:  On 7-11-09 at approximately 0107 hours, Troopers stopped a Ford
Escape in downtown Talkeetna for erratic driving.  The driver was
identified as Kendra Higgins, age 21 of Anchorage.  Investigation
revealed that Higgins was driving while impaired and under the influence
of alcohol.  Higgins was arrested, transported and remanded to the
Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility, bail was set at $500.

Case number: 09-60108

Type: DWLS

Text:  On 7-10-09 at approximately 2206 hours, Troopers stopped a
Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Wolf Track in Talkeetna after recognizing
the driver as Kim Shipman, age 53 of Talkeetna.  Shipman was known to
have a suspended drivers license. Department records verified Shipman’s
driver’s license was suspended. Shipman was issued a misdemeanor
citation to appear in court and was released.

Location:  Palmer
Case number:  09-60464
Type:  MVC-I
Text:  On 07/11/2009, at approximately 2205 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a single vehicle roll over collision at approximately mile
12 of Palmer Fishhook Road in Palmer. Investigation revealed Gregory
Mothershead II, age 26, of Palmer, was operating his 2005, Chevrolet
Malibu southbound on Palmer Fishhook Road, from Hatcher’s Pass, when he
lost control of his vehicle. Mothershead’s vehicle spun out of control
and crashed into the guardrail. After colliding with the guardrail,
Mothershead’s vehicle rolled down an embankment and came to rest
up-side-down, in a stream, along side of the Little Susitna River.
Mothershead was able to extract himself from the vehicle and was
discovered in the stream by another motorist. EMS responded to the scene
and treated Mothershead’s injuries. Mothershead was transported to the
Mat Su Regional Medical Center by EMS. Mothershead reported wearing his
seatbelt. His vehicle was totaled in the collision. Damage to the
guardrail was estimated at $3,000.00. The collision is currently still
under investigation.

Type: Minor Possess Alcohol

Text:  On 7-12-09 at approximately 0148 hours, Troopers stopped a BMW
sedan in downtown Talkeetna for a moving violation.  The driver was
identified as a 17 year old male juvenile.  Troopers observed a case of
beer in the vehicle.  The juvenile was issued a misdemeanor citation to
appear in court and was released at the scene.

Type: DUI

Text: On 07-12-2009 at approximately 0308 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted Joshua E. Gibson, age 30 of Anchorage, on a traffic stop at
Main St. and D St. in Talkeetna.  Gibson was contacted after his vehicle
was stopped for an equipment violation.  Investigation revealed that
Gibson had been operating the vehicle while impaired and under the
influence of alcohol. Gibson was arrested, transported and remanded to
the Mat-Su Pre-trial Facility, bail was set at $500.

Type: Criminal Trespass II
Text: On 07-11-2009, at approximately 1715 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report that an individual was at Turners Corner on Palmer
Fishhook Road and was not supposed to be there. Troopers contacted Otto
R. Thiele, age 47 of Wasilla at Turners Corner. Investigation revealed
that on 06-12-2009 Otto had been advised by Troopers that he was not to
return to Turners Corner. Otto was arrested, transported and remanded to
the Mat-Su Pre-Trail Facility.

Type: Minors Consuming Alcohol

Text:  On 7-12-09 at approximately 0415 hours, Troopers stopped a
Pontiac Grand Am at mile 9 of the Talkeetna Spur for a moving violation.
Investigation revealed that two 16 year old male passengers in the
vehicle had been consuming alcohol.  The juveniles were issued
misdemeanor citations to appear in court and they were released at the
scene.

Type:  Assault in the Third Degree

Text:  On 07/12/09, at approximately 0033 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a disturbance at a residence on Cottonwood drive in
Wasilla.  Investigation revealed Matthew Warren Smith, 22 yoa of
Wasilla assaulted a family member. Matthew Smith was subsequently
arrested, transported and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial with no bail.

Type: Theft II
Text: On 7-12-09, at about 0900 hours, Alaska State Troopers
investigated the theft of a green 2007 KX450 Kawasaki motorcycle from
behind the Sutton General Store in Sutton.  The motorcycle was valued at
$6000.00.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested

Location: Wasilla
Case number: 09-60601
Type: SAR
Text: On 7/12/2009 at approximately 0831 hours, Lisa Tcheripanoff
contacted Alaska State Troopers to report her husband as missing.  Moses
Tcheripanoff is a 43 year-old male who lives near Pittman Road in
Wasilla.  M. Tcheripanoff was last seen on 7/11/2009 at approximately
2200 hours, riding an ATV from Tesoro gas station at the corner of
Seldon Road and Church Road in Wasilla.  L. Tcheripanoff did not notice
him missing until approximately 0800 hours on 7/12/2009 and immediately
contacted Troopers.  Matanuska Search and Rescue (MATSAR) and an Alaska
Wildlife Trooper pilot responded on-scene at approximately 1100 hours.
The AWT aircraft spotted M. Tcheripanoff at approximately 1150 hours,
near Bruce Lake.  MATSAR was accompanied by an additional Alaska
Wildlife Trooper on ATV’s while being guided by the AWT aircraft.  At
1210 hours the victim was located by ground searchers and brought out to
a waiting EMS ambulance for further observation.  EMS cleared M.
Tcheripanoff who was later released at the scene.  Investigation
revealed M. Tcheripanoff had attempted to ride a new trail on his ATV
and became stranded.  M. Tcheripanoff reported no injuries and was
mildly dehydrated.

Text: On 7-12-09, at about 1208 hours, Alaska State Troopers
investigated the theft of a red Polaris ATV from the King River area
near Sutton.  The ATV was valued at $5000.00.  Anyone with information

Type: Assault Fourth Degree (Two Counts)

Text:  On 7-12-09 at approximately 1642 hours, Troopers responded to the
Sunshine Tesoro near mile 99 of the Parks Highway to investigate an
assault.  Investigation revealed that Sarah Hurst, age 22 of Palmer, had
assaulted two family members in the parking lot by biting one of them
and cutting the other with a piece of glass.  Hurst was arrested and was
remanded into MSPT, where she was held without bail.

Case number: 09-60525

Type: DUI  (Talkeetna Moose Dropping Festival Enforcement)

Text:  On 7/12/09 at 0119 hours, AST was on foot patrol of the Talkeetna
Moose Dropping Festival and observed a go-cart race around a stopped
pickup and almost hit a Trooper.  When AST caught up with the go-cart
the driver was identified as 25 year old Christopher Leeper of
Anchorage.  Investigation revealed that Leeper was intoxicated and was
arrested for DUI.  Leeper was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial for DUI with a
bail of $2500 c/c with a CATP.

Location: Trapper Creek

Case number: 09-60593

Type: MVC-Injury

Text: On 07/12/09 at approximately 0620 hours, Troopers responded to a
report of a single vehicle rollover with injuries near mile 124 of the
Parks highway near Trapper Creek.  Investigation revealed that Kash
Vigue, age 51 of Fairbanks, was driving southbound in a green, 1996 Ford
Explorer.  The vehicle drifted across the fog line and onto the dirt
shoulder of the roadway where it collided with three large trees and
rolled several times.  The vehicle came to rest on its side.  Two
passengers in the vehicle, Josh Frisby, age 19 of Fairbanks, and Justin
Hamilton, Age 20 of Fairbanks, were not wearing their seatbelts and
suffered serious, but non life-threatening injures.  Hamilton was
ejected approximately 75 feet from the vehicle.  Alcohol was not a
factor.  Vigue was wearing his seatbelt and suffered non
life-threatening injuries to his back and neck.  All three occupants
were transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital by medics.  The vehicle is
considered a total loss.

Case number: 09-60567

Type: Expected Death

Text: On 07/12/09 at approximately 0415 hours, Troopers received
notification of the expected home death of Joice Collier, age 71 of
Talkeetna.  Collier was diagnosed with lung cancer in early 2009 and was
being treated for the illness until the time of her death.  Collier’s
family doctor and Next of Kin were on scene at the time of her death.
No foul play is suspected.  The State Medical Examiner was notified and
the body was released to Heritage Funeral Home.  Comfort One paperwork
is on file.

Case number: 09-60298

Type: Parole Violation

Text: On 6-11-09 at approximately 0825 hours, Joseph Penn, 29, of Noatak
was contacted at a residence in Noatak by a Noatak Police officer for a
parole violation.  Investigation determined that Penn violated the
conditions of his mandatory parole by failing to report to his assigned
probation office after traveling outside an area of geographic
restriction without permission.  Penn was subsequently placed under
arrest without incident and transported to Kotzebue Regional Jail with
no bail.  Penn was placed on mandatory parole following a Sexual Assault
II conviction in 2002.

Type: Burglary II, Theft III

Text: On 7-10-09 at approximately 1728 hours, Kotzebue Troopers received
a report of a theft in the village of Noatak.  Investigation determined
that sometime between 6-12-09 and 7-2-09, someone forced entry into the
Noatak IRA building and stole a Kodak Easyshare digital camera valued at
approximately $240.00 and a small amount of cash.  Damage to the
building is estimated at less than $50.00.  Anyone with information
regarding this crime and/or has knowledge on the whereabouts of the
missing camera is encouraged to contact Trooper Long at 1-800-789-3222.

Case number: 09-60010

Type: Attempted Murder, Assault III, MIW IV

Text: On 7/10/09 at 1330 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Dillingham
received a report from a 16 year old male that his uncle, 35 year old,
Charles Akelkok of Ekwok pointed a rifle at Charles Akelkok’s father, 67
year old Phillip Akelkok of Ekwok and pulled the trigger twice.
Investigation revealed that Charles Akelkok was intoxicated while being
in possession of two firearms.  Charles Akelkok held a rifle to Phillip
Akelkok’s chest and pulled the trigger to the rifle twice, but the rifle
did not fire.  This caused Phillip Akelkok to be in fear of death.
Standing near Phillip Akelkok during the incident was the 16 year-old
male who was also in fear of serious physical injury from Charles
Akelkok pointing a rifle in his direction.  Charles Akelkok was arrested
and remanded to the Dillingham Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail.
The incident is still under investigation.

On 07/10/09 Dwayne JOHNSON, 19YOA of Quinhagak, was arrested by AST in
Emmonak pursuant to two AST arrest warrants. Bail for the warrants is
set at $600. JOHNSON was taken into custody without incident and
remanded to the Emmonak jail.

Type: Assault 3, Probation Violation, Resisting Arrest

Text: On 7-10-09 at 2315 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a
report of a stabbing in Stebbins.  Subsequent investigation led to the
arrest of Jermaine Lockwood, 26 of Stebbins, for two counts of Assault
3, three counts of Assault 3 on a police officer, Probation Violation,
and Resisting Arrest.  Lockwood was remanded to the Anvil Mountain
Correctional Center.  The victim was treated at the Stebbins Clinic and
released.

Type: DUI

Text: On July 12, 2009, at 0143 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Bethe
stopped a 1997 Ford F150 for traffic violation. Investigation revealed
that Gilberto Zazueta, 25, of Bethel was driving under the influence of
alcohol and subsequently arrested for DUI.  Zazueta was remanded to the
Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

Location: Akiachak

Case number: 09-60289

Type: Aircraft Accident (Commercial)

Text: On 07/11/2009, at approximately 1245 hours, Alaska State Troopers,
were notified by Civil Air Patrol that an aircraft had crashed just
outside of the Village of Akiachak. The aircraft (tail number N225BL)
belonging to Renfro Alaska Adventure Services crashed into the trees
outside of Akiachak just after depart Bethel for Tuluksak. The
Pilot/Owner of the aircraft, Wade Renfro (age 40 of Bethel) and Travis
Siekert (age 31 of Bethel) were the only occupants of the aircraft at
the time of the incident and were not injured as a result of the crash.
The FAA and the NTSB were notified of the incident. Alcohol is not

Location: Cooper Landing

Case number: 09-59011

Type: Search and Rescue

Text: On 7/7/09 at approximately 2303 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received the report from Kelly Malahy, age 29 of Palmer, that a 12 year
old female, Emily Reast of Anchorage had fallen out of a tree near
Barber Cabin and sustained injuries.  The cabin was located four miles
in from the Lower Russian Lakes trailhead.  Cooper Landing Ambulance
Corps, Cooper Landing Volunteer Fire Department, AST, and U.S. Forest
Service personnel responded to the scene.  On scene injuries were
identified as hip, chest, and shoulder.  Reast was unable to be
extracted from the cabin by helicopter and was transported out of the
trail system using ATV’s.  Cooper Landing Ambulance Corps transported
Reast to Central Peninsula Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Type: Assault IV

Text: On 7/7/09 at approximately 0245 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to Seward Providence Medical Center for the report of an
assault.  Contact was made with Andrew Courser of Seward.  Courser
reported he was at a residence near .5 mile Nash Road when he was struck
in the back of his head with a rock.  Courser was able to obtain a ride
to the hospital to receive treatment and was released with minor
injuries.  Investigation continues.

Text: On 7/7/09 Alaska State Troopers from Cooper Landing and Crown
Point responded to a residence on Nash road to investigate an assault.
Viola Saccheus 32 yoa of Seward, was subsequently arrested for VCOR
after she had consumed alcohol. Saccheus was arrested and transported to
the Seward Jail and remanded without incident.

Type: Attempted Burglary II; Criminal Mischief IV

Text: On 07/10/09, at approximately 0306 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to TJ Saggy’s near mile 101 of the Sterling Hwy to investigate
the report of a security alarm that had been tripped.  Investigation
revealed that a white male with a medium build, brown hair, and wearing
grey coveralls attempted to enter the building and ran from the scene
towards the JB Bar when the alarm sounded.  Anyone with information
regarding the suspect is encouraged to contact the Alaska State Troopers

Type: Search and Rescue

Text: On 7/12/09 Alaska State Trooper dispatch received a report that
Steven Heinsen 30 yoa of Chugiak had become ill and is unable to walk
while traveling to Trout Lake which is a remote lake in Cooper Landing.
LifeMed was contacted and launched out of Soldotna and contacted
Heinsen. Heinsen was taken by helicopter back to Central Peninsula
Hospital to be treated.

Text: On 7/12/09 A Cooper Landing based State Trooper responded to the
Kenai River Campground following a report of a burglary. Investigation
revealed persons unknown entered the main office of the campground and
took an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe. Investigation is

Type: Personal Use Fishing Violation

Text: On 7-11-09, Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted 35 year old Dean
Goodwin from Anchorage in Soldotna.  Investigation revealed Goodwin had
taken 16 salmon while dip netting on the Kenai River without an Upper
Cook Inlet Personal Use Salmon Fishery Permit.  Goodwin’s salmon were
seized and he was issued a summons for personal use fishing without a
permit.  Goodwin’s bail will be determined at his arraignment on
7-31-09.

Text: On 07-11-09 at approximately 2321 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers
contacted Gordon Descutner, age 42 of Anchorage. Investigation revealed
that Descutner was dipnetting 21 minutes after closing time of 2300
hours. Descutner was issued a citation and released at the scene.

Type:  Sport fish guiding without required registration forms in
possession

Text: On 7/11/09 at 1345 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Ralph
Simmons, 39 yoa, of Cooper Landing.  Investigation revealed SIMMONS was
providing Sport Fishing Guide Services on the Upper Kenai River.
Further investigation revealed that Simmons did not have in his
possession the required guide registration forms.  SIMMONS was issued a
citation; bail is set at $210.00 in the Seward District Court.

was on Highway patrol in the Anchorage area.  The operator of an older
model Jeep was observed driving through a steady red light.  The driver
was stopped and contacted for the traffic violation.  Investigation
revealed John Killarzoac 19 YOA of Anchorage has never possessed a
drivers license.  Killarzoac was issued a summons for operating the
vehicle with no operators license and he was released on scene.  The
vehicle was released to a responsible party.

Text: On 7-5-09 at 0354 hrs, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway Patrol
was on Highway patrol on the Seward Highway.  A newer model Chevy
Suburban was observed traveling down the roadway with no taillights on.

The driver was stopped and contacted for the equipment violation.  The
operator of the vehicle was identified as Jessie Fleming 31 of
Anchorage.  Investigation revealed Fleming did not posses a valid
operators license.  Fleming was issued a summons for operating the
vehicle with a suspended operators license.  Fleming’s vehicle was
released to a responsible party and he was released at the scene.

Text: On 7-5-09 at 2039hrs, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway Patrol
stopped a GMC Yukon for speeding near mile 50 of the Seward Hwy.  The
operator of the vehicle was identified as Jessie Fleming, age 31 of
Anchorage.  Investigation revealed Fleming’s License was suspended.
Fleming was contacted and charged for driving suspended by Highway
Patrol Troopers earlier that same day in Seward and he was advised not
to drive. Fleming was arrested for driving with a suspended license and
he was remanded at Seward Jail.  He was also cited for speeding.  The
vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Text: On 7-11-09 at 1325 hours the Alaska State Troopers Bureau of
Highway Patrol, South Central Team stopped Marvin Carter (58 YOA of
Tonsina) after he was observed riding his ATV on the highway at mile 80
of the Richardson Highway.  Investigation revealed that Carter was
driving while under the influence of alcohol.  Carter was arrested and
booked into the Glennallen Holding Facility on the charge of DUI, his
bail was set at $1,000.00 per the Glennallen Bail Schedule.  Carter was
also issued citations for driving an ATV on the roadway, and drinking
while driving.

Text:  On 7/11/09 at approximately 1059 hours members of the AST Bureau
of Highway Patrol South-Central Team, working the Glennallen area during
the Fireweed 400 bicycle race were notified of a bicyclist that was
seriously injured after falling from his bicycle at mile 134.8 of the
Glenn Hwy.  On arrival, there were three physicians, a paramedic, an
EMT, and a nurse on scene attending to a male who was later identified
as Robert E. Johnson Jr., age 64 of Unalaska.  Investigation determined
Johnson, who was a participant in the Fireweed 400 bicycle race, was
traveling north on the shoulder of the Glenn Hwy.  Johnson apparently
fell over the front of the bicycle for no apparent reason.  Johnson then
slid under the guardrail where his head struck a steel guardrail post.
Johnson was wearing a lightweight bicycle helmet but suffered from a
severe head injury.  Johnson was transported to the Gulkana Airport by
ground ambulance where he was flown by LifeMed to Alaska Regional
Medical Center in Anchorage.  Next of Kin were notified of the incident
by the Unalaska Public Safety Dept.  Johnson was pronounced dead at
Alaska Regional Medical Center at approximately 1713 hours.

Text: On 7-4-09 at 0333 hrs, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway Patrol
was on Highway patrol on the Seward Highway and stopped to check on a
stranded motorist.  Upon contact with the driver of the vehicle
investigation revealed the driver was emitting an odor of an alcoholic
beverage from her breath and person.  A DUI investigation revealed Sarah
Dahlstrom, 27 YOA of Craig, AK was DUI and was transported to Seward PD
where she provided a sample of her breath on the Datamaster resulting in
a BrAC of .155% at 0415 hours.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Text: On 7-8-09 at 1622 hours the Alaska State Troopers Bureau of
Highway Patrol, South Central Team responded to a motor vehicle
collision on Bogard Road near Catalina Drive in Wasilla.  Investigation
revealed that Rebekah McQuown (17 YOA of Palmer) was driving a 1996 Ford
Taurus westbound on Bogard Road when the vehicle left the roadway and
struck an electrical pole.  The vehicle then continued into a parking
lot where it struck an unoccupied 2003 Ford Excursion.  MEA responded to
repair the broken electrical pole.  McQuown was transported to Mat Su
Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.  The damage to
the Ford Excursion of estimated at $3,000.00.  The Taurus is considered
totaled.  McQuown reported that she was wearing her seatbelt at the time
of the collision.

Text: On 7/5/2009 at 1645 hrs, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway Patrol
stopped a black 1999 Ford pickup for speeding.  Scott Atherton, age 18
of Seward, was identified as the driver of the truck.  Investigation
revealed that Atherton was in possession of alcohol.  The alcohol was
seized and he was issued a mandatory court citation for Minor in
Possession of Alcohol.

Text: On 7/4/2009 at 2240, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway Patrol
stopped a maroon 1991 Dodge car for speeding.  Investigation revealed
that three passengers in the car were in possession of alcohol and had

Michigan, Robert Godwin, age 18 of Wasilla, and Ryan Jacobs, age 20 of
Anchorage.  All three were issued mandatory court citations for Minor
Consuming Alcohol.

Text: On 7/11/2009 at 2312 hrs, a service station in Delta Junction
reported that an intoxicated motorist had left in a silver Suzuki SUV
north on the Richardson Highway.  Troopers from the AST Northern Bureau
of Highway patrol located the car in the Salcha area.  It was observed
driving erratically and was stopped. The driver was identified as
Brandon James Logan, age 37 of Fairbanks.  Investigation revealed Logan
was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol.  He was arrested
for DUI.  Further investigation showed he had two prior DUI convictions
within 10 years.  Logan was remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center
for Felony DUI.  He was held with no bail pending arraignment.

Text: On 7/12/2009 at 1622 hrs, AST received a report of an intoxicated
motorist.  AST Patrol and troopers from the AST Northern Bureau of
Highway Patrol located the truck and stopped it.  The driver was
identified as Tracy Lee Easton, age 49 of Fairbanks.  Investigation
revealed Easton was operating the truck while impaired by alcohol and
with a revoked driver’s license.  Easton was arrested for DUI and DWLR.
Further investigation revealed Easton had two prior DUI convictions
within the past 10 years.  He was remanded at Fairbanks Correctional
Center for Felony DUI and DWLR.  He was held with no bail pending
arraignment.
