Speed and failure to stop for a red traffic light appear to be the contributing factors in Friday night’s fatal crash on W. Trinity Lane at Brick Church Pike that claimed the life of motorcyclist Nicole Gill, 30, of Aline Drive.

Gill was traveling east on W. Trinity Lane at 11 p.m. when she struck an on-coming Pontiac Grand Prix that was attempting to turn left onto Brick Church Pike. The driver of the Grand Prix, Keith Otey, 19, of LaVergne, told officers that he was turning with a green arrow. Another witness reported that Gill ran the red light.

Otey was not injured.

Officers were told that Gill was on her way to Skyline Medical Center to check on a relative who had just been hospitalized.
