Nashville, Tennessee – Man Charged with Attempted Homicide in Early Morning Shooting

An apparent drug-related robbery in the 3200 block of Masonwood Drive early this morning led to a shooting that critically injured a man.
Shawn Stafford, 25, is charged with attempted criminal homicide for shooting Rodney Patterson, 39, outside Stafford’s Masonwood Drive apartment complex at 5:30 a.m.
Stafford told detectives he shot Patterson, who was unarmed, after an argument in the parking lot. A witness, who was with Patterson, reported he was shot during a robbery attempt by Stafford. Patterson, of Oak Park Drive, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Stafford’s arrest history reflects a drug possession charge and a conviction for unlawful weapon possession.
Patterson, a convicted felon for burglary and fraudulent use of a credit card, also has past convictions for unlawful weapon possession, domestic assault and drug possession.
