WSP to Increase Patrols in Yakima and Tri-Cities for July 4th Weekend
Additional Washington State Patrol troopers will be patrolling the State Routes and Interstates in Yakima, Sunnyside, Walla Walla and the Tri-Cities during the upcoming 4th of July weekend. Troopers will be paying special attention to violations that are most commonly linked to fatality and injury collisions within the region…alcohol and/or drug impaired driving, dangerous speeding, and failure to use seat belts and child restraints.
The Washington State Patrol’s Commercial Vehicle Division will also have additional troopers and officers working during the weekend to conduct commercial vehicle equipment inspections and patrol for aggressively driven commercial motor vehicles.
“We are asking everyone to celebrate responsibly this holiday weekend. Please do not drink and drive and always remember to buckle-up to keep you and your loved ones safe,” said Washington State Patrol District Commander Shawn Berry.
Additional patrols will be working in the following areas over the holiday weekend:
- Yakima- 5 additional troopers
- Tri-Cities- 4 additional troopers
- Sunnyside- 1 additional trooper
- Walla Walla- 2 additional troopers
Please do your part to ensure a safe and memorable holiday weekend- don’t drink and drive, always use seat belts and child restraints, and drive at safe and legal speeds.
