Location: Coffman Cove
Case number: 09-55547
Type: Search and Rescue
Text: On 6-29-2009 at approximately 1433 hours, the Alaska State
Troopers were notified of a missing person, Samuel Butler, 24 of Coffman
Cove. Butler was last seen in a 16ft flat bottom, modified aluminum
canoe at approximately 0330 hours driving erratically after leaving a
party where he was seen drinking alcohol. USCG located a partially
submerged canoe during routine flights in the area of Snow Passage
between Bushy Island and Zarembo Island just north east of Prince of
Wales Island and later confirmed unregistered canoe was Butler’s. USCG
reports finding only a life vest and gas can aboard the canoe. The USCG
is searching thru the night in the vessel “Liberty” along with a small
patrol vessel based from Ketchikan. Wrangell Search and Rescue along
with a dozen Good Samaritan boats and 1 airplane from Sunrise Aviation
in Wrangell have joined the search efforts. If anyone has contact with
Butler or information of his whereabouts, they are urged to contact the
Alaska State Troopers at 1-800-478-5118.

UPDATE
On 6/30/2009 at 2000 hours, the USCG and the Alaska State Troopers have
suspended search efforts for Samuel Butler, 24 of Coffman Cove. After
two days of searching from the US Coast Guard, numerous Good Samaritan
boats from Coffman Cove and one aircraft from Sunrise Aviation from
Wrangell, Butler nor anymore debris could be located. The USCG will be
broadcasting POM POM’s (marine radio messages) every two hours until
1200 hours on 7/1/2009 for any vessels in the area of Snow Pass and
Zarembo Island to be on the look out for any signs of debris or Butler.
Investigation continues.

Location: Ketchikan

Case number: 09-56118 and 09-56121

Type: MVC – I and MCA (2nd Offence)

Text: On 6/30/2009 at approximately 2330 hours, the Alaska State
Troopers responded to a single vehicle collision near 456 North Point
Higgins Road in Ketchikan.  Investigation revealed 22 year old Justin D.
Oldham of Ketchikan was driving westbound on North Point Higgins in a
2004 Dodge passenger car when he lost control and went into the ditch.
The passenger, 18 year old Katherine K. Hargett of Ketchikan was injured
and transported to the Ketchikan General Hospital for superficial cuts.
Subsequent investigation revealed Hagget had recently consumed alcohol
and was issued a citation for MCA.  Both Oldham and Hargett reported to
have worn seatbelts.  Oldham was additionally issued a citation for
failure to provide proof of insurance.

Type: MVC-D
Text: On 6/30/09 at 2153 hours, AST responded to a motor vehicle
collision near the intersection of Lucille and Seldon, Wasilla.
Investigation determined that a 1996 Saturn, driven by Arthur Roberts,
age 47, of Wasilla was southbound on Lucille when a 1991 Subaru station
wagon driven by Azariah Ramirez, age 17, of Wasilla was westbound on
Seldon and went through the stop sign striking Roberts vehicle.  Both
vehicles appeared totaled and damage was estimated at $6,000.00.  There
were no injuries and all occupants reported wearing seat belts.  Ramirez
was issued citations for failure to provide proof of insurance and
failure to stop at a stop sign.

Type:  Assault 4th Degree Involving Domestic Violenece

Text:  On 07/01/09 at approximately 0017 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Williwaw Way in
the Wasilla area.  Investigation revealed that 49 yoa Richard James
Cockcroft of Wasilla assaulted a family member.  Richard was arrested
for Assault in the 4th degree involving domestic violence and
transported to MSPT where he was held without bail.

Type: Warrant Arrest
Text: On 7/1/09 at 1940 hours, AST arrested Alejandro Orozco, age 19, of
Wasilla on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for arraignment
on the original charge of failure to show proof on insurance.  Orozco
was contacted after a traffic stop for an equipment violation on King
Arthur near No Name Hill, Houston.  Orozco was issued a citation for
failure to provide proof of insurance.  He was transported to Matsu
pretrial where bail was set at $3000.00 cash.

Type:  Assault 4 x 2

Text:  On 6/30/09, at 1300 hours, Alaska State Troopers in St. Marys
received a report of an ongoing Domestic Assault in the community of
Russian Mission.  Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a 44
year old male for assaulting his 36 year old wife and 13 year old
daughter.  The male was transported and remanded to YKCC in Bethel.

Text: On 06/25/09, at about 0510 hours, Aniak Alaska State Troopers,
responded to Grayling and arrested Robert Maillelle 19 of Grayling after
he chopped a hole in a Grayling residence door with an axe.  The value
of the door was estimated at $300.00.  Maillelle was transported to YKCC
in Bethel to await arraignments.

Type: Burglary 2nd Degree

Text: On July 1, 2009, Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received
information that the Boys and Girls Club in Akiak was burglarized during
the night. Investigation revealed that forced entry was made through a
window. Only food items appear to have been taken from the building. It
was also discovered that another window was pried open from the inside
allowing for reentry into the building at another time. The estimated
cost of damages is $1000. The investigation is ongoing.

Akiak has seen a rash of residential and commercial burglaries within
the community in the few weeks. Alaska State Troopers ask that anyone
with information pertaining to any of the burglaries call the Bethel
Post at (800) 487-9112.

Type: MVC-D

Text: On 6-30-09 at approximately 1037 hours, AST responded to a motor
vehicle collision located near the intersection of Rika’s Road and the
Richardson Highway.   AST investigation determined Howard Wilkerson of
Florida, turned north on the Richardson Highway from Rika’s Road driving
a 2001 motorhome.  Roy Bowdre of Delta Junction was also northbound on
the Richardson Highway driving a 2004 Chevy pickup.  Bowdre began to
pass the motorhome that was slow to accelerate.  As Bowdre was passing,
the motorhome turned left into Tanana Adventure Sports parking lot and
was struck by Bowdre’s vehicle.  No injuries were reported.   Damage to
each vehicle was estimated at $10,000.

Text: On 6/30/2009, at about 1412 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted
Ervin Sam Jr., age 32 of Northway, at the Naabia Niing Store in
Northway.  Sam was arrested on a $250.00 outstanding warrant and charged
with violating his conditions of release.  Sam is being held at the Tok
Holding Facility awaiting arraignment.

Text: On 6/30/2009, at about 1801 hours, Alaska State Troopers were
dispatched to a motor vehicle collision near mile 1257.8 Alaska Highway.
Investigation revealed Durrell Hearns age 22 of Eielson had fallen
asleep and drove off the rode, striking a tree.  No injuries were
reported and a seatbelt was reported being worn.  Damage to the car was
in excess of $2000.00.

Text: On 6/30/2009, at about 2101 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted
Roylon Mark, age 24 of Tetlin, behind the Tok Lodge in Tok.
Investigation revealed Mark was on conditions of release and he was
violating those conditions.  Mark was arrested and charged with
violating his conditions of release.  Mark is being held at the Tok
Holding Facility awaiting arraignment.

Type: Multiple charges (Felony)

Text: On 6/29/2009, at about 0206 hours, Alaska State Troopers were
dispatched to an assault in Northway.  Investigation revealed Timothy
Thomas age 36 of Northway, assaulted individuals in Northway with a gun,
then drove away drunk from the scene.  Thomas was charged with three
counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault 3rd degree,
misconduct involving weapons 3rd degree, misconduct involving weapons
4th degree, driving under the influence, and refusal to submit to breath
testing.  Thomas was lodged in the Tok holding facility.

Text: On 06-30-09, at approximately 1955 hours, Darren Michael James
Sanger, age 24 of Nikiski, was stopped by Alaska State Troopers near

Type: Commercial Fish Closed Period / Illegal Possession / Waste of
Salmon

Text: On:  On 6/21/09, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Cordova were
given information and photographs of the F/V Sushi fishing closed period
8 hours prior to the opener on the Copper River Flats. A search warrant
was granted for the F/V Sushi, a 33 foot bowpicker, ADF&G# 75459. The
boat was located fishing on the West side of Prince William Sound and a
boarding was conducted. The skipper of the F/V Sushi, a Nikolai P.
Reutov 39 yoa of Homer AK, was interviewed. REUTOV stated that he was
seen and photographed on the night in question. A full confession and
account of the facts was given. The search / seizure warrant was
executed for the F/V Sushi. On 6/26/09, REUTOV agreed to drive his boat
back to Cordova were it was seized and pulled out of the water. On
6/30/09 REUTOV was charged with Commercial Fishing Closed Period,
Illegal Possession and Waste of Salmon. The arraignment date was set for
7/22/09 in the District Court of Cordova.

Text: On 06-30-09 at approximately 0015 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers
contacted Luke Allen Lovejoy on the Russian River near the falls.

Text: On 06-28-09 at approximately 2205 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers
contacted Callen Ross, age 51 of Kenai on the Cohoe Beach. Investigation
revealed that Ross had failed to record a catch for the day of sockeye
salmon on his personal use permit. Ross was issued a citation and
released at the scene.

Text: On 07-01-09 at approximately 0036 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers
contacted Aroldo Gomez, age 32 of Soldotna near Mile 21 of Kalifornsky
Beach Road. Investigation revealed that Gomez failed to record personal
use salmon on his 2009 personal use permit that he caught the night of
06-30-09. Gomez was issued a citation for $110 and released at the
scene.

Text: On 06-29-09 at approximately 2009 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers
conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan pickup at Mile 76 of the Sterling
Highway. Investigation revealed that the driver, a male juvenile was
driving with a revoked driver’s license. The male juvenile was issued a
summons and released at the scene. A relative picked up the vehicle.

Type: Personal use fishing violation

Text: On 6-29-09, Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Samuel Sibold, age
19, from Fairview Oregon following an investigation.  The investigation
revealed Sibold, who is an Oregon resident, had participated in the 2009
Kasilof River Personal use set gillnet fishery.  The investigation also
revealed Sibold had sold three of the Sockeye Salmon taken from the
personal use fishery.  Sibold was issued two summonses.  The first
summons was issued for participating in personal use fishing without a
valid Alaska resident sport fishing license and bail was set at $210.00.
The second summons was for the illegal sale of personal use caught fish
which requires a mandatory court appearance and bail will be determined
at arraignment on 7-31-09.

Type: Meth Lab & Warrant Arrest

Text: On 6-7-09, at about 0654 hours, investigators with the Mat-Su
Narcotic Unit were assisted by AST Talkeetna Patrol in executing a
Search Warrant at a residence located at Mile 80.5 of the Parks Highway,
near Willow.  Subsequently, the Search Warrant yielded chemicals and
laboratory grade equipment commonly used in the meth manufacturing
process as well as a small amount of methamphetamine.  Investigators
identified the person responsible for the meth lab to be Tisha R. Negus,
age 31, of Willow.

On 7-1-09, investigators located Ms. Negus at a residence in Wasilla and
arrested her on two counts of MICS 2nd and two counts of MICS 4th, which
stemmed from the above described meth lab investigation.  Further, Ms.
Negus was also arrested on an un-related $750.00 arrest warrant for
failure to appear for arraignment for the original charge of DWLS.  Ms.
Negus was transported to MSPT, where she was held in lieu of $50,000
cash, plus CATP.

Text: On 6/29/09 at approximately 2202 hours the AST Bureau of Highway
Patrol, South Central Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of
Pittman Rd. and Scatters Way in Wasilla in response to a REDDI report.
The operator was identified as William E. Stryken, age 38, of Wasilla.
Stryken was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of
alcohol and was arrested for DUI.  Stryken was remanded to the Mat-Su
Pretrial Facility where he was held on a $500.00 bail.
