On June 30, 2009, at 11:30 am, Sheriff’s Helicopter ASTREA 10 was requested for a hoist rescue on the north side of Palomar Mountain.
ASTREA 10 was requested by Narcotics Task Force members who were harvesting a marijuana grove.
The victim, who was suffering from heat exhaustion, was part of a Japanese film crew documenting the Narcotics Task Force harvesting the marijuana.
ASTREA 10 responded from their Fallbrook Helibase and located the victim at the 4500 foot level of Palomar Mountain.
The victim was hoisted into the helicopter and subsequently handed off to North County Fire for transport to Fallbrook Hospital.
The ASTREA 10 hoist crew consisted of both Sheriff’s and Cal Fire personnel.
