EMPHASIS: Sobriety Checkpoint Announcement–Wayne County

Captain George Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, announces that sometime during the month of July 2009, a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted in Wayne County. The operation will be conducted in cooperation with other local area law enforcement agencies.

“Sobriety checkpoints are part of the Patrol’s effort to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways,” said Captain Ridens. “The impaired driver continues to be a major contributor to serious traffic crashes in southeast Missouri.”

The Missouri State Highway Patrol urges all citizens to report any vehicle they observe operating in a careless manner. The public can contact the Highway Patrol toll free at 1-800-525-5555 or on their cellular phone at *55.
