Home Invasion Robberies:
Detectives are investigating three home invasions that occurred over the weekend. They all appear to be unrelated.
The first robbery occurred around 3:00 Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of Orlando Ave. Two victims, Aaron D. Mitchell, 21, of Easter Ave and Zakari A. Ferguson, 22, of Orlando Ave, reported that the suspects entered an unlocked front door with guns drawn. The suspects demanded the victim’s cell phones and money. One suspect fired shots at the victims, striking each of them in the lower leg.
The victims were transported to Akron General Medical Center where their injuries do not appear to be life threatening. The only description of the suspects is two black males with handguns.
The second robbery occurred shortly before 2:00 Saturday morning in the 2200 block of 17th St SW when four to six black males entered the house wearing all black clothing and masks. The suspects assaulted a 46-year-old female asleep on the couch with a stun gun. Two other victims, 24-year-old female and 25-year-old male, asleep upstairs were assaulted with a metal pipe. The suspects then tried to take a television set before fleeing.
The 46-year-old refused medical attention. The other victims were transported to Barberton Citizens Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Officers recovered evidence of cultivating marijuana at the residence.
The third robbery occurred around 11:00 Sunday night in the 1800 block of Delia Ave. The victims, 24-year-old male and 25-year-old female, reported that several males entered a south side door and ordered the male to the floor at gunpoint. The female victim ran out a rear door to the neighbors to call police. The suspects took a wallet from one of the victims and over $600.00 in cash before fleeing.
The male victim reported that a male, acquaintance, stopped at his house just prior to the robbery to use the phone. Officers followed-up on the acquaintance, ultimately, leading to a search warrant being executed at 1595 Maxen Dr. Officers recovered the victim’s property taken in the robbery, as well as other drugs and money.
