The Norman Police Department has made notifications and is releasing the names of those involved in the fatality accident.

Stephanie Masten, age 17 and Stephen Tyler, age 19 were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.  Gaylon Phillips, age 21 and Shelby Shea, age 18 were both transported by EMSSTAT to Norman Regional Hospital where Gaylon Phillips was later pronounced dead by medical staff.  Shelby Shea was last known to be in serious condition at Norman Regional.

On 06-28-09 at approximately 12:19 a.m., the Norman Police Department responded to a reported injury accident at NE24th and Rock Creek. EMSSTAT paramedics and members of the Norman Fire Department were also dispatched to the scene. Responding units located a single vehicle on the north side of the road that had significant structural damage.

The officers located four occupants of the vehicle, two of which had been ejected. EMSStat paramedics pronounced two of the individuals dead at the scene and the other two occupants were transported to Norman Regional Hospital. One of the two patients was pronounced dead by medical staff after arriving at Norman Regional Hospital.

The accident is being investigated by members of the Norman Police Department CIRT team. The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Rock Creek at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway on the north side of Rock Creek and struck a tree, causing extensive damage.  The names of the individuals involved are being withheld pending notification of family members.
